I have owned close to 200 watches over the past 14 years. and all of them were purchased used on the secondary market.
The reason? In the old days I could buy a mint condition watch with full boxes and papers, for 1/3 of the MSRP....wear it around for a a few months and get 100% of my money back and sometimes even make a small profit when I got bored with it.
I don't bother buying watches now as the fakes are getting too hard to tell from the genuine ones and there are too many scammers that have infiltrated the watch forums.
I keep an Excel spreadsheet with all my prior transactions and I haven't lost any money from the watches I bought/sold. That's not a bad deal considering the costs associated with other hobbies.

I personally like Movado's. They seem to be a very clean watch. Here are some of my fav's!

Just picked this up. Citizen Eco-Drive. Calibre 8700. Very classic, it has perpetual calendar has an alarm, dual time and a non-reflective crystal for easy reading. Looks better in person. Did not thought i would like citizen watches but this one in pretty cool. Here some quick pick i shot.
Hi guy's
Just got back from Calgary jewellery. They had a eberhard for sale today. They where 50% off on clearance.. The watch was $3000 but i can get it for $1500. What do you think?
They also had a new Hamilton Jazz Master Open heart that i can get for a good price?
Here is some pics.
Which to go with?
Eberhard.
Jazz Master.

That Eberhard Traversetolo Vitre is a decent watch. I used to own one and you can pick them up in used, but mint shape for under $1,000.
If you want a less expensive alternative, using the EXACT same movement (Unitas 6497), check out the Swiss Army/Victorinox Ambassador XL handwind. You can pick them up brand new on Ebay for $250 - $300 (they retail at $700 I believe) and it's basically the same watch and would be comparable quality.....as long as you can get over the "Swiss Army" logo on the dial.
I've owned a few of them over the years and they are great.

I used to own a Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro chrono and they are good watches for the money.

Thank's Pacman.
I have few swiss army watches that i wear on and off. So really don't want to get another one. But do you think that the eberhard is a better quality watch than the Hamilton jazz master for the same price?
Never owned these two watches, so any info on them would be great. I am more of a Omega fan.
cheers
how big is that eberhard? i like the simplicity of the design and it looks to be a manual-wind watch?
They are both going to be good "quality", and you probably won't find much of a fit/finish/quality difference between either of those watches and a Breitling/Omega/Rolex etc unless you crack open the case and start inspecting movement parts for high quality finishing (not that Breitling/Omega or Rolex really have any high quality finishing on their movements in the first place).
If you want a chrono function and an auto movement, then go for the Hammy. If you don't mind hand winding your watch every morning and have no use for a chrono.....then go with the Eberhard.

I'm a fan of Movado's as well ever since I bought my very first one!
I have an eclectic watch collection so don't hate.
^^ I like a couple in that second pic. Nice.
I am thinking I will pic one of these up in the next few days. They are a cheap 'knock off' if you will of a A. Lange and Sohne Lange 1. But I dont have $175,000 to drop on a turbillion one yet.
Cos...
OK guy's.
This is the new watch i brought home from Calgary Jewellery. Hope you like it.
Nice watch, the Eberhard's are certainly an underappreciated watch. That one almost has a Patek look to it. Good pick.

I love watches where reading the time is easy (after all that is what a watch is for), so for its simple elegance the Eberhard was the clear winner for me.
