    Default Getting Jerked Around

I used to work for mr.volvo a few weeks ago, the owner found that somebody stacked old volvo parts outside by the fence, blamed me right after telling me to wipe down a chain link fence with papertowel and sweeping the street + sidewallk. I said 'fuck this' and left. It wasn't part of my job, and I am better than a broom bitch at a company that I wasn't even hired to work the shop at.

It's been 4 weeks now and I still don't have my final paycheck. He keeps giving me a run around "oh, my accountant hasnt gotten back to me...click". Does anybody here have a phone number I can call to get somebody after him to give me my money? I've been searching google but haven't been comng up with much.

He lives just up the street from the shop. Look for the house with lots of Volvos in front.

He is obligated to pay you, but no time limit.

I had to go through this BS a few months ago... I went directly to the accountant. Find out from the other workers when he/she comes in, or what company they work for.

Go and have a nice chat with them. They have nothing to lose so they are more understanding, and willing to cut a cheque on the spot.

what ever you do, DO NOT be unrully or violent, or unreasonable with him. you will end up getting burned.

After that he brags about it to the staff members and proceeds to watch porn on the front desk computer while bragging about how hes so rich and has this and has that blah balh blah. Hes got major insecurity and mistrust issues.

Yea if you give notice... otherwise its 10 days after the date which the one or two week notice would have expired.

    Employee Initiates Termination

The length of notice an employee is required to give also depends on the duration of employment and should be in writing. The minimum notice requirements that employees are required to provide are:

    * one week ? for employment of more than three months, but less than two years
    * two weeks ? for employment of two years or more.

If an employee gives proper notice, the employer must pay all earnings to the employee within three days following termination of employment.

If an employee quits without proper notice all wages, overtime, holiday and vacation pay is due to the employee within 10 days after the date on which the notice would have expired if it had been given.

haha the first time I met Irv (Hampstor used to get work done there) he asked if I had any hot friends to introduce him to. Sorry you're getting the runaround though. I hope Labour Relations can help get it all sorted out quickly.

Labor board can't help. They are for unions only. Call 311 and the the City will be able to point you in the right direction.

the labour board is not for unions only, it is to protect the right of any and all workers.

check canadian government phone listings or call service canada and they can point you in the right direction.

Actually, the labour board IS for unions. From http://www.alrb.gov.ab.ca/employmentstandards.html :

    From their website
Did you know that many people confuse the Alberta Labour Relations Board and the Employment Standards Branch? If you belong to a trade union, then you do want to contact the Alberta Labour Relations Board. However, if you do not belong to a trade union, you will want to contact the Employment Standards Branch.
Here is the correct website, giving an explanantion on how to complain.
    http://employment.alberta.ca/cps/rde....xsl/1697.html

Be aware you MUST complete the Self-Help kit before contacting asking for their help.

Before filing a written complaint, employees are expected to attempt recovery of unpaid earnings directly with their employer. In order to assist you in this regard, Employment Standards has designed an Employee Self-Help Kit.
So basically, download the kit here: http://employment.alberta.ca/documen...ES_ncn0799.pdf
Fill out the letter that is included, then send it along with the fact sheets to your employer. It also includes the above information that you were asking about the source of.
