Of course, a perfectly good explanation is boring, so the answer is, it's fucking voodoo.

I would get a Z06 or a Jag XKR/XJR over any of the cars on that list. Z06 is a great performance bargain, the XKR is a gorgeous beast, and the XJR could carry the whole family.
So, if having a family and needing a dual-purpose fun/carry car, the XJR for sure. If you're talking fun "weekend" car, XKR or Z06.
at 50 years old chances are if you're getting a car like this it will probably be one of your last cars...Originally posted by E46..sTyLez

Oh I guess I didn't explain my answer:
1. I have wanted a 911 since before I can remember, and now that they went back to the round headlights, I am loving the water-cooled
2. All wheel drive, would be good for the wet days
3. Fast and luxurious, so you could handle driving it everyday (compared to something like a GT3 which I am sure could get a little rough sometimes)

As sweet as the ferrari would be, the 911 turbo would be the best IMO because
- All wheel drive (for calgary's unpredictable weather + handling bonuses)
- power everywhere for comfortable city driving
- Available in an automatic that is faster than the manual, if a comprimise must be made with the wife.
-Back seats if you ABSOLUTELY have to
- Faster than any of your other choices
- Well mannered in the city (won't wreck your aging back), but as capable if not more than the rest on the race track
- A car you can live with from day to day moreso than some of the other choices, such as the viper.
I've driven the SLK 55, it's nothing too special, very nice but not very connected or anything. Its more of a cruiser.
The viper is worth about $50,000 not $130,000 (IMO), it is built like a piece of shit IMO
The exige could be cool, but very small and not that fast or exotic.

I chose the porsche because I've always wanted a 911 turbo since before I could drive. Consistently beautiful car.
My other choice would definately be a viper, it's an amazing car domestic or not.
I like the lotus but if I had a 100g's to spend I wouldn't get it. If I was in the $80k and under market I would definately look at it seriously.

Going to have to agree with everything except for the auto part. If the wife can't drive a stick, then she can't drive the carOriginally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Edited with an "IMO" thanks.
It's also worth mentioning that the depreciation makes buying one a few years old a bargain.Originally posted by E46..sTyLez
