    Default GM's new 3.6L V6 (LLT)

GM is coming out with a balling as shit new engine. I know the VQ is pwn in this category, but I'm surprised (and impressed) that GM came out with a damn good new V6.

    3.6L
    302HP @ 6300RPM and 272 ft-lb @ 5200RPM
    vs
    4.6L
    320 HP @ 6400 RPM and 315 LB-FT @ 4400 RPM

And it's going to be matched up with the 6L50 6 Speed automatic transmission. 7000 RPM redline. It gets the 2008 Cadillac STS up to 60 in 6.5. I like the sound of it, I would have to hear it though, if it sounds nice then the deal is sealed. I wonder how much I would be able to get the engine for The Olds needs a new engine, the 3.8 is spewing engine coolant all over the place .

    Wikipedia:
The 3.6 L (3564 cc) LLT is a direct injected version of the LY7. It was first unveiled in May 2006, and was claimed to have 15% greater power, 8% greater torque, and 3% better fuel economy than it's port-injected counterpart. It has a compression ratio of 11.4:1, and has been certified by the SAE to produce 302 hp (225 kW) at 6300 rpm and 272 ft·lbf (369 N·m) of torque at 5200 rpm on regular unleaded gasoline. This motor will debut on the 2008 Cadillac STS and CTS [1][2].

Cool engine, but it might be a bit tough to swap into your Olds, seeing as how it's FWD and this motor is clearly for a RWD setup.

Should go with the 5.3 DOD

It finally caught up with the competition. Good for GM.

And yet it has done it with Regular octane fuel while all the others need premium to make their advertised numbers.

I'm stealing everything from an STS or CTS :P Drivetrain, tranny, etc. I can't fit a 5.3? It's a 3.8 engine bay and it's pretty packed already. I'll figure out a way, even if it kills me :P I want RWD anyways.

Anyways, yes this engine sounds freaking awesome! Go GM!!!

    .
    on regular unleaded gasoline.
Shouldn't it be running premium with a compression ratio of 11.4:1?

Not according to the articles. Direct Injection allows for higher compression without fear of detonation.

GM has also came out with a new V6 Diesel engine thats going to be in the CTS in Europe. Should be a nice engine to add the the mix. Plus with the push for diesel cars in NA it will probably be coming here too. Its a V6 Turbodiesel 2.9L with 406 LB-FT and 250 HP.

Personally i think it will be great if they can bring it to North America, would be nice to get a domestic car with a diesel engine.

supposedly, cadillac is also working on making a V12 flagship sedan to compete with the ultra lux flagships from bmw, merc, audi. with the engine being essentially 2 of these new V6's fused together, output around 600+ hp.
