That is US funds but you should still get about $200 in savings

I picked up the 70-200mm f/2.8L non IS lens today. I didn't want to spend the extra green for the IS. I was originally going for the 4L but talked myself into the better lens. Ya I am pretty sure sales guy like me a lot lol!

Were you originally going for the f/4L IS? or just the f/4?

I had intended to buy a 4L non IS but the more I researched things the more it made sense to go with the 2.8 for the added shooting situations it can do. That and there was only good things said about this lens. Of course other than the weight of it.

Has anyone bought from Amazon.com? I didn't think they ship to Canada where we're stuck with Amazon.ca.

This lens sells for $2200 CAD + tax.

You can select Canada as a shipping address when you sign up for the Amazon account, so I don't see why they wouldn't.

Do you have to pay duty on this stuff? I've seen some pretty good deals but after you add 9% exchange, 6.1% duty and 6% GST they deals aren't that good anymore. I'm not talking about he 70-200, just stuff in general.

That is a good question. Exchange is great (even though the damn banks still get there fingers in it) but what about the duties?

If I remember correctly even when you fly to and from the states the declaration asks if you will be mailing something from the states over a certain value. I am sure Uncle Sam or Aunt Harper will want some of your hard earned money.

    From EBAY
    http://reviews.ebay.com/Canada-amp-U...:-1:LISTINGS:4

It describes it but not sure how you can tell what you will have to pay..

"What duties and taxes do you have to pay?

    Duties

We calculate any duties owing based on the value of the goods in Canadian funds. The duty rates vary according to the type of goods you are importing and the country they came from or were made in. Depending on the goods or their value, some other taxes may apply, such as excise duty or excise tax on luxury items like jewellery.

Under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), duties on various goods imported from the United States and Mexico have been either reduced or eliminated. The NAFTA rates apply when the goods you are importing are made in the U.S. or Mexico.
    "

Maybe you get lucky and it is covered under NAFTA

I don't believe there are any duties on camera gear. You just pay the GST. Where are all the guys who've ordered from B&H?

Do you have to use UPS? Doesn't their brokerage include duties?

UPS scares me with their random "fees and brokerage", sometimes it costs more than the item.

Yeah, but when I tried checking out the cart, it says invalid address.

I think they only ship things like books and dvds to canada.

I've tried with a Canon S3 since it's around 100 dollars cheaper but had no luck when it came time to ship.
