Lets talk lawns..

I have a huge amount of weeds, dandelions etc in both my back and front yard.
I dont really have the time to go out there myself and pull or address each one - can anyone recommend a good lawn/lawn care company or easily used product?

Easily used product: Killex

Get the version that comes in a jug you attach to your hose. Spray your entire lawn in a generous but continous sweeping motion. Allow 8-12 hours for product to take effect. Water lawn for 2 hours. Boom, weeds gone :P

but just remember if you have an adjoining lawn with a neighbor that doesn't take care of the lawn, you might as well, just flush your money.

We have this problem. We had an immaculate lawn, our neighbour doesn't take care of hers. Mows the grass down to the dirt (even on our side) she is one of those neighbors that doesn't understand property lines, doesn't use weed killer, fertilizer.

Now we have plans to rip up our front yard and start again...with xeriscape landscaping.

We wasted too much money on green drop and others trying...

We've been using Nutri-lawn for the past 3 years. THis year we have had not one weed. Our neighbors lawn is full of them. It also helps in filling in the wholes faster from the brown patches the dog leaves us in the winter.

Green Drop for sure. I use them, my lawn looks awesome and i do nothing. Before it was a weed garden. Couldn't even see the grass. Now it's a lush green.

There is lots of ferterlizers that have weed killers in them. We just put scots terf builder on, and all the weeds are now dieing. PLus your lawn grows very green and thick.

i just buy my own fert. and weed killer
my rents house was weed free ... till i moved out.. LOL
now my bro is tooo lazy to do it.. LOL
i am going back to apply this weekend and next weekend

2 weekends and our grass was super green and nice..
and like hardly any almost no weeds all summer...

there was like 2-3 but.... not a big deal..
and it cost me
like $30
bought the hand held sprinkler thing
and the fert + weed killer
and thats it


why pay like 140 +
when u can do it urself?

LOL, I think you are far better of with an independant or smaller company who actually cares.

The Green drop guarantee is BS anyways, they tell you things like "you need to water more" etc etc...even when you dont

Weed Man FTW. We've been getting regular treatments from them for 3 years now, I haven't seen a single weed in my grass. Plus my neighbours lawns on both sides are pretty nasty, but my grass is always green

Edit: oh yeah, and Scotts Turf Builder doesn't hurt either.

For a huge tip, apply the herbicides in fall, and let it sit for winter.

My parents have an acreage and the old neighbor recommended them to do this- no dandelions end up in spring/summer at all

I think my lawn is much better than most houses on my block.

FWIW, I am pretty sure that Killex has something out that kills weeds+crab grass and won't harm your normal grass. I would use Scotts Turf Builder PRO weeds and feed.

Yep, Weed Man FTW... 3 years, no weed. About $200/yr I think. (I just write cheque for whole year so I don't remember)

Weeds can not grow in healthy thick grass. Once you have your weeds under control. OVERSEED your lawn. Use an mix (sun and shade from CIL is a great mix for up here), and follow the instructions on the bag/box for over seeding. this shoud be done at least every 2-3 years.
