LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Paris Hilton was let out of jail Thursday morning, days after she began serving what was to have been a 45-day sentence for violating probation, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Hilton must wear a monitoring bracelet and remain at her home for another 40 days, said sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Medical considerations "played a part" in the decision to offer Hilton home confinement for the remainder of her sentence, Whitmore said.

Wonder if the medical conditions are "enhancements." haha

You guys are whacked bitching about celebs being above the law. She was a target for prosecutors to be made an example of and her sentence was completely unfair. We see tons of DUI folks keep driving, get busted, get fined, that's it thanks to overcrowding. Nobody sees jail time till they kill someone, or at least get busted drunk 4 or 5 times. How many times have we bitched about that on beyond saying the justice system failed with every DUI accident with innocent victims?

Paris got busted for 0.08%, the minimum for a charge... I've known ppl that's had 2 beers busted at 0.08% and usually those get thrown out because of equipment accuracy. Judges here always throw that out... much like 5 or 10 over speeding tickets. She got busted for speeding with a suspended license. Now, if you feel that deserves a 45 day jail sentence, you're seriously on crack. We'd have 50,000 more ppl in jail today if that happened to everyone.

If anything, she was unfairly punished for BEING a celeb.
