    Default Printing Photos.

Where do you guys get your digital photos printed at?

I just sent 3 pic to blacks and i must say im kinda dissapointed. I ordered a 5X7 of this shot below. On the right and left side there was 2 white edges, but on the top and bottom my black border was cut off. So on the sides i have 2 whites strips and my black lines from the boarder but on the top and bottom its cut right to the picture. Is this normal? It was the same on all 3 of my shots.
Not to mention they did it in matte when i asked for gloss.

This is what it should of looked like.

I've only used costco so far as they are filthy cheap. Everything so far has been 12X18. I must say I am fairly impressed given the price. I'm probably not as critcal as some of you guys but its very cheap and quite good.

check your image size....if its not 5X7 it will be cropped to fit....even if that means cutting off some parts

I thought they would just shrink or resize it to fit a 5x7? not crop it to fit?

Costco is actually quite good for their prints. Their machines put out some decent colors and from what I've seen of theirs, it doesnt look too bad! Cheap as hell too, so that's a bonus

They do shrink or stretch to fit, but you need to make sure your picture has the correct width and height ratio.

    Your picture has a 5 x 7.5 ratio not 5 x 7.

So i went to talked to the guys at blacks and its becuase i did not change the ratios on my picture to fit a 5x7 properly. So my fault. But the quality is awesome. But i only used them becuase there right next to my work. Not a very good price. 5x7 1.99 each.

I print my own, I find most generic photo labs don't use a high vibrance when it comes to colors when you really need it.

To get the correct ratio, all you need is a calculator.

    5/7 = x/y

where x and y are the width and height of your picture in pixels. simple math, you should be able to figure out the rest.

I usually just multiply the picture dimensions by 300 to get the required pixel size. so for 5 x 7, I'd need an image that's 1500 x 2100.
