    Default Registering .ca domains

I need to register a .ca domain, and most of the bigger providers don't have this option. Does anyone know of a good site that I can register this domain without having to host with them? And preferably somewhere that charges me a one-time fee or yearly fee because I want to register the domain and let it sit for a couple years before actually hosting anything on it.

Not to highjack youre thread but say you were to own rogersvideo.ca name and they (rogersvideo) came along and wanted that as there website would they:

Have to may you for the name?
Pay the company who gave you the domain?

And how about the money $$$$ how much would they offer you 1000 or 1 million..?

    Always wondered that.

    Sorry again.
Sometimes you have to take a chance, whether that be on someone, or something!

that is called cybersquatting and is illegal. Basically if you use a trademark name for your own domain then the company who holds the rights to that name will more then likely be given your domain in dispure resolution handeled by the domain registrering authority

Yea, it's a PITA. When beyond.com (huge US software provider during dot com era) came after me, I spent about $5k lawyer fees to prove that I legally owned this name BEFORE they did. Apparently, I was lucky to have used this for a business back in the day, and legally registered beyond in Alberta. Otherwise, even if I did use this name for a beyond car forum without legal registration (or registered it AFTER they were in business), it'd still be considered cybersquatting, and probably would have lost it. My lawyer told me it would've costed me 50-100k to fight that one off, with no guarantees of a win.

I used netfirm, best price I found. I didn't realize registering a .ca account required so much extra hasslethough compared to a .com account.

If you're looking to ONLY register your domain, go with Netfirms. If you're looking to get the domain, AND host, buy the domain at Netfirms and host at a different host.
    For example 1and1.com.
    Good luck.
