("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.
It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice.

IF newscasters try to imitate it, then it must be good.

I'm from Vancouver, and mine came up Canadian, but all my friends from central BC or Alberta came up as Midland.

    San Francisco.....

Manitobans will usually draw the Minnesota accent. My brother's gf is from Manitoba (well we both are too, but she just moved here) and if I listen hard, I can notice slight differences in vowels and such (but I like listening to that sort of thing...) As far as why you got the Mid-Atlantic one QuasarCav, how long did you live in the UK? You may have carried over a slight bit of that. It's hard to hear similarities, but I noticed the only people that throw extra R's in between words (not Honda Accord, but "Honder-accord" or "I have an idea-rabout that") There must be more similarities...

I got Canadian by the way.

    Mid Atlantic

Also known as a "Philadelphia accent" but also heard in south Jersey, Baltimore, and thereabouts.
