Contiki is a great option if you want to see a lot, and party at the same time. It is a very cost effective way to travel large distances...as for working there, you may need to look into a work visa or find some cash work if you can.

I've been told getting a visa is generally a snap for Canadians, assuming you have a clean record. They're not desperate for labor like we are, but you should be able to get a job washing dishes or as a waiter fairly easier (our accents help). This is just what a friend of mine who worked in Brisbane told me, I've never been myself.

I'm curious what people tell you for how much money to bring, I'm trying to go there for a semester next winter, either in Brisbane or Darwin.

if you're going for 2 months, contiki is a good option.

another even more cost effective way to see australia is to wait until you get down there, and see what the local tourist shops have. it's a) cheaper and b) a more personal experience. Then to get around just get a greyhound pass... you'll probably pay half the price doing this and meet cool people staying at random hostels.

    Goodluck!
