One thing I noticed this year is our ability to battle back. Keenan refuses to let the guys give up. It seemed like last year, if the Flames were down...they'd get frustrated, and give up...and I'd turn the TV off. There's been quite a few games this year where we've got back in it...but either take a dumb penalty or just plain bad luck.

I think the Keenan system is working. Kipper is a bit rusty, sure, but he's still making those big saves. Tanguay looks to be more involved in the play. Iggy is trying hard, but nothing is panning out for him. There were some big changes over the summer...6 new guys, including a new head coach. Give it time guys!

I would totally trade iginla for someone who can score every night. malkin? and keep all the money and sign kipper for life.

sorry, I love iggy too, but a change would benefit him and us at the same time.
do you know how many teams would love to have IGGY.The guy is a complete player & is worth every $ He is the face of our team.

I noticed that too. Seems like anytime they get charged up and get chances when last year they would've just rolled over. From the few games we've seen so far, they tend to get better as the game goes on, so there's probably words exchanged during the intermissions.

Did it also seem like yesterday's game the guys seemed, I dunno, a little too careful? Keenan probably ripped them a new one after all the penalties they got in the Vancouver and Philly games. Three penalties in the Detroit game versus 7 and 8 in Vancouver and Philly, respectively. Not to mention the 4 powerplay goals for Vancouver.

Yeah I noticed that as well, but it may have been a good thing too or detroit would have really taken it to the flames if they got more powerplay chances. It's 3 games in, definately not far enough to dig that hole too deep, but they gotta start games better. Much better... Anyways, good luck in Dallas!

that's why we signed iginla to a five year contract right? so we can trade him away? iginla brings way more to the table than malkin ever will.
and plus, we don't need malkin, langkow will do just fine for us.

Yes another slow start but we are only 3 games in. Last night's game, although they lost was the best they played at Joe Louis Arena in the last while.

Back to the whole identity theme, I'm not exactly sure how to describe this bunch. They want to go back to the defensive style but they don't have the grinders, they can't exactly run and gun it yet because well, they aren't scoring in bunches. Lack of chemistry?

The core guys have to step up and they know it. With them falling behind in games has shown me one thing, they are very resilient. That's a good quality for the team to have. We'll see how the rest of the road trip unravels.

Iggy is a slow starter too but to suggest trading him away, are you mad? Might as well blow up the team then.

Some of the comments in this thread are... err... some of you people need to give your heads a SERIOUS shake!

In any case, it's 3 games in and we will respond - what better way then on the road so let's see what happens!

I couldn't agree more, but it is exactly the same as what happened last year as well. Flames went 3-6-1 in October, and all the homers wanted to trade Iginla.

I wouldn't trade Iggy either, but I'd love to see Lombo get more ice time somehow. That guy's a liger in sheep's clothes.

Keenan rewards players with ice time (work hard, more shifts) I noticed in the first game, he was mighty impressed with Lombo's work, judging by how many shifts he got.
