Default My experience with Calgary EMS.

i know that some of you on here are paramedics and i just wanted to take a sec to thank you for what you do. my dad has cancer and my mom and i are getting used to driving my dad to and from the hospital for various treatments. but yesterday he experienced his worst day hes had yet and we could not move him due to the extent of his pain. we elected to call 911 and within minutes calgary ems had arrived to my parents house and i have never seen such professionalism in all my life. there is no worse feeling than seeing a loved one in such a state of pain and knowing that you can do nothing to help them. the 2 medics that arrived worked quickly to help him and administer morphine to ease his pain and make it so that we could move him. they took special care during transport to not hit any of the manhole covers on the road so that my dad wouldnt experience any bumps or sharp movements. its hard for me to write this but i just wanted everyone here to appreciate that there are people out there that show so much compassion to people they dont even know. i just wanted to say thank you for what you do and that you deserve the utmost respect from everyone.

Hey, does your dad live in Kincora? EMS were just down the road from me yesterday... and were walking a older gentleman to the ambulance... looked like he was in pain.

Man I know what that is like, my father too suffered horribly from cancer. Its good to hear that EMS takes such good care of people.. it gives me a little hope for our city's sometimes poor health care. I hope the emergency room has been a little better to your father than they were to mine. Is he at the Tom Baker? They are very kind there also. My thoughts are with you and your family, best of luck.

I am sorry to hear about your dad. If you need an ear just PM me.

I lost my parents, my in-laws and now my sister has terminal brain cancer and we are losing her. It's a lot to deal with when you see your loved ones in pain.

My mom had Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma, which breaks down your bones. Every movement was painful for her. EMS was fabulous with her. I can't say enough good about them. Cancer center was fantastic to my whole family.

    Take care

from the bottom of my heart, i thank you all for your kind wishes it means alot to me. Primer_drift, yes hes been in and out of the tom baker for about 2 months now, the people there are so amazing, i have never seen so many upbeat people before in my life.. ive basically been living at the rockyview, foothills and tom baker for 2 months and the hospital staff are outstanding. i always hate having to go to the emergency room because you never know if your going to wait for an hour or a day.. its really sad to see all the people that have to wait in pain or sickness with the billions of dollars our government has.

thank you again to all of you for your kind wishes.

I had to deal with the same thing with my mother. It's extremely painful to watch someone you love so much deal with so much pain. But as cliche as it is just keep your head up, stay strong for your mom and keep praying and keep believing. Things do get better as hard as it seems to believe, eventually things will get better.

Take care, ill keep your family in my thoughts.
