    Default Evening pics

A big storm was growing just to the east this evening and was being backlit by the moon. I figured if I had some more skill these could have looked really cool, I just grabbed my camera and ran out the door..

These are the raw shots, un-edited in photoshop. I also have no idea how to focus properly with a standard lense at night, if anyone can provide some pointers.

I had the exposure varying between 20-25 seconds for each, the problem came from the clouds moving over that time frame.

I was just out trying to capture the same storm, but after afew shots the camera died, and my spare is dead as well

I'm no expert, but for your pics you should lowering the exposure and increase the ISO (hopefully won't pick up much noise), and a tripod can be your best friend.

Don't you mean increase the exposure and decrease the iso?

OP, what camera and what settings did you use? And were you using a tripod?

But he said he's getting a blurred pic due to the clouds moving, to reduce this, the shutter should be open for less time, but due to a quicker shutter you would need to up the iso.

(this isn't barmanjay it's his gf. Too lazy to log on lol)
Well my pics sure look crappy compared to these LOL... It was late and I didnt feel like going out driving... I took these from my room and u can see some of the screen from the widow.. I wish i went out now

And I agree wicked storm for sure.. I really hope we have another one so that I can practice my photography a bit more.. Un freakin pics guys
My shutter speed was on bulb... I just set my aperture really low(small). Played around with a few different ones. I just held the button down on my remote for 10-30 seconds at a time and they were all small files.

Good stuff Ben. Were you driving or do you live in the Mack Towne area?

Lamp shade that first one is great! I really like the foreground of trees, lightening and then the stars up top. Pretty neat.

I set up my cam on the patio just as the lightning was going crazy. Set the tripod...set it to "bulb" and got my remote in hand...then waited....waited....and waited...and that was it..no more lightning strikes!!
