Sure, PM me some audio clips, I'll give them a listen and see if they're up my alley.

Can anyone recommend some books/DVDs etc. that is a good learning tool for guitar?

The ones I've found so far haven't been of help to me and would like to know some recommendations from the experienced peeps. We all had to begin somewhere!

so i went into L&M yesterday to check if the godin 5th ave i ordered was in, turns out it didn't even ship yet. i started checking out the acoustics again and they had this beauty in there...

    http://www.long-mcquade.com/?page=pr...roductsID=2985

i bought the simon & patrick instead and as it happens, there was a promotion that provided a $100 gift certificate with purchase of the guitar. it was about this time that i noticed one of these in the store as well (but with a black grill)...

it matches my orange rocker 30 head, so i put said gift certificate down on the cab, and with my upcoming birthday i will finally have a cab, the fact that it matches is a bonus

I can't even step foot in there without walking out with something I didn't intend on buying... so many nice things, so little spare cash LOL.

Mikey! Holy shit....you've done some shopping. I did pick up a Simon Patrick acoustic used, so I won't need that gift certificate for GWorks.

turns out that cab is 1 of 100, who would have thought

Here are a pair of rare factory custom color "Orange Crunch" DSL100 half stacks and a gorgeous Gibson custom shop Les Paul. Marshall Arts reader Tim said that only 100 of these amps were made. Each amp and 1960A angled cabinet sports a special badge. Click the photo for a larger view (127K).

I paid $1050 at guitar works. You can find them online or at other stores for MUCH less ($700 I think?). It sounds very nice but you'll want strap locks right away!

clear as a bell even with the extremely high gain of my amp, it still still stays clear but is super crunchy. i just started playing with my eq, so im starting to really find the tone i was looking for

also, i would recommend q-tuners to anyone. guitar or bass. they have other options besides the super high-z, and they are all made to order so you can choose your inlay color and such. maybe wait until our dollar is back up again though because you can expect to pay around $280-90 for each after exchange.

im trying to convince andrew to put a q-tuner in his warwick

    Nice guitar man! Rickenbackers rule!

Quick question: How do I find out if my top is a solid top? My Ibanez Montage MSC650VV has painted sound holes and their website only says "Quilted Maple"

I would like to know because I paid a lot for it and expect quality materials. It sounds good NOW but I would like it to be better in the future as well. Mother's Music mentioned that it has to be solid for that price bracket but I'm unsure.

    Howdy gang...Quick (ultra-noob) question here...

I've been playing Guitar for the better part of 13 years...but only recently got back into steel stringed acoustics after purchasing an Ovation (i've always had a thing for them, especially recently) from a beyonder a few months ago.

I snapped my G-string (lol) this afternoon and since the strings are old anyway, figured i'd just replace the set...however, it's been a hellllll of a long time since i've purchased strings for an acoustic guitar and I don't even really know what's what any more.

I'd prefer a brighter sound to a mellower sound and run ErnieBall 10's on my electrics...

Any suggestions on what to get? What do you guys use/prefer?

Can't really go wrong with any of the majors in Acoustic strings: D'Addario, Dean Markley, etc.
I tried running Elixers on my electric guitars, but didn't really like them. On my acoustic, however, I think they're great. I'm terrible for not wiping the strings down after playing, and I've got acid in my fingertips, but the Elixers sound good and last forever.
I didn't find them to be worth the money for my electrics, but I will continue to buy them for my acoustic.

I like .12's on acoustics, and .10's on electric.
