Props to your son, Panama isn’t easy to play!

Used to play but my amp and guitar is collecting dust. No desire to at all anymore, though I was never very good at it to begin with.

My guitar and amp is for sale for anyone wanting to pick it up again. Les Paul black beauty + Line 6 spyder amp. Cheap as hell to get it out of storage..

Love that guitar. I had mine modified with a Floyd rose and have been playing it a ton lately. Shits a back breaker haha.

How cheap is cheap as hell?

@rage2 - sorry I didn’t get back to this. $600 for guitar and amp.

Complete beginner here. Been thinking about learning.

Acoustic guitar say around $500 or less. Definitely open to used as well.

    What do you guys suggest?

New or used Seagull or a used Taylor would be the only way I would go.

Lots of used options in that price range.
Seagull, Simon & Patrick and Art & Lutherie are all very inexpensive decent guitars.
Yamaha also make decent guitars that go fairly cheaply on the used market.
I happen to like Takamine, but they seem to get a lot of hate.

Picked up this LTD M-1 87 Custom Series reissue last month. Quite versatile for a single humbucker, no tone knob guitar. Has a coil split for the Seymour Duncan Distortion as well as a PA2 +20 decibel toggle switch. Incredible sustain with the flat mount Floyd Rose bridge. Made by World Musical Instruments in Korea, they make a fine axe!

That looks so awesome. I agree, I have a Korean LTD and quality is fantastic.
I’ve been eyeing those Jackson Korean wildcard soloists but for what they’re asking I would’ve hoped it would have come with SS frets. Will probably wait until next year to see if they offer SS frets in their pro series to catch up with other brands.

Yeah, I wish that it had stainless frets but truthfully I've never had to refret a guitar. I use 9-42 slinky cobalts with half step down tuning. Honestly, a lot of the pricier Jackson imports are now made in China or Indonesia. A $1500+ guitar made in China. Wasn't too impressed with the ones I tried out at L&M and they felt and sounded like cheap toys. I'll have to checkout this wildcard series if they're Korean built they're likely quality. I'm a big believer in the WMI Korean built guitars. Excellent build quality and attention to detail. Worth every penny. The new Japan imo.

    Question for the inter webs.

Is a 2010 Gibson Les Paul Junior worth anything?

I never really kept on it with playing, and it’s sat in a corner for over a year now, trying to decide if the thing is worth keeping as a decoration / keepsake or if I should try and get some money for it. It’s in quite good condition. A very minor mark on the back edge but aside from that “mint”.

Keep it as a decoration. Pretty much worthless. Even basic Les Paul Studios don't hold any value on the used market.

Cool, that’s kindof the answer I was hoping for. It is cool and I do like the idea of picking it up every once in a while.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t being a complete idiot leaving a couple grand lying around or something stupid.

Really??! I'm surprised. I thought Gibson always held value. While most Epiphones don't, even some of them do like the Korean made ones.

Yea, standard and up. You can find Gibson LP Studios for <$1k. Gibson LP Jr's around $500-$600 range. Epiphones, probably better off stripping it off for wood with the way lumber prices are going.

You have to remember that the Juniors and Studios were bargain basement prices for a long ass time new. The market's flooded with them. Only Standards and up really stuck with the high prices over the years. I bought 4 Gibson LP Studios for like $800 new over the years before they jacked up the prices.

This is the right answer. There’s no time limit. Music is a lifelong adventure. There’s no rule saying you can’t pick up the hobby again in 1, 2, 5+ years and resume where you left off.

Yep, mine usually sit most of the summer and I dust them off in the winter to annoy my neighbor's again.

I’m only really ever shopping for Jackson’s and Charvel’s as I prefer their neck profiles but I picked this up on reverb as it was a decent deal and I liked the sparkle finish. Feels like there’s a shortage on strings lately and can’t find my regular custom light elixirs anywhere though for a restring.
