Default Looking at new laptops questions about compatibility with mac

Time to buy a new computer, I currently have an older compaq presario pos running windows xp. Problem is the burner on it is shot and I need to move many files over to a new computer. First question is, is it possible to do this via usb or some other means? Second question is, is it possible to move files from windows xp over to a macbook. Thanks for the help!

get a portable hard drive and transfer ur stuff to it, (borrow someones ipod or something), probably will be the quickest way to transfer anything asides from actually pulling ur notebook hdd and attaching it to another computer...

Have you looked into getting a hard drive enclosure? It plugs into your usb, and you can access files directly with the flip of a switch without having to move anything onto your new computer.

I used one of those when I switched to a Mac, and all my files from Windows work perfect (they just use whatever Mac equivalent they need to open).
