    Question Olympus point & shoot?

I've decided to go digital later this year. I've pretty well decided which camera to go with for this -but - I have need of a little point and shoot in the meantime.

Because of the beating it will be taking over the next few months, my main criteria are size and ruggedness. For this reason I'm looking at an Olympus stylus 720 or 770(ish)

Does anyone have any compelling reasons why I should stay away from this camera???

    Opinions welcomed
    Regards
    Ron

I have an Olympus 710 that I carry as my point and shoot. It's been great as far as taking a beating goes. That said, I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the photos (the sharpness isn't always that great) but I haven't used any other point and shoots so I don't know if that's normal or not. Obviously, the quality won't be the same as an SLR. It does the job for me though...usually they're just drunken party pictures anyways.

Got the Olympus 720SW, and i love it. I'm in no way a camera guy, i suck at taking pictures, and dont actually care to much about taking stylized ones. The camera on the other hand is awesome, waterproof and shock proof make it so you dont really have to worry about it breaking easily, and i think the pictures and movies it makes look really good. Another plus is the Memory for it is really cheap

Olympus, good rugget camera if you are going with the stylus series. they are good against rain and snow. Splash proof.
there is a 440 for like 450 bucks that is fully submergable so if you snorkel or kayak and flip over it will still be fine.

the only complaint I have about olympus is the XD cards they use. never on sale, so average is like 80 bucks for a 2 gig. The format is only used by Olympus and Fuji cameras.
That means if you get a camera, you get the XD chip, your camera craps out down the road or you want to upgrade, you wanna keep using that XD chip cuz it holds like 600 pics.... they only fit in another Olympus or Fuji. Your choices for another camera are limited.
