Arrow HELP! Media Sharing your PC and XBOX 360

    Hey,

So I was trying to link my PC to my XBOX (my connection is shared through a router) but my PC wont recognize my Xbox, nor will my XBOX recognize my PC. It is NOT a connection or setup problem, I have narrowed it down to a firewall issue. As far as I know I am not running an external firewall client (other than windows), and my windows firewall is turned off. Now here is where it gets tricky for me, when I try and turn on my windows firewall it says that due to an unknown error, it cannot. Furthermore, any options regarding firewall do not seem to work. The computer is basically telling me that my firewall is not working and it doesnt know why. However, Microsoft does provide some information regarding external firewall support (non windows), and one of the .exe that it provides info about (port numbers etc.), is svchost.exe or something like that, and that .exe IS running in my task manager. I have no idea where to go with this, could someone help me out please. Thanks,

    Jamie

You might still have the same firewall issues, but it's worth checking out if you're getting in to this anyways.

i had pretty similar issues, my pc could sometimes see my xbox though but never the other way around so i ended up using orb, http://www.orb.com/ , it is decent, videos are choppy though but i used it primarily for pictures and music.

    Try looking for ideas here....

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...nnect/faq.aspx

    Ports...

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910635

And if I'm not mistaken you may need to check into enabling UPnP.

But yeah, TVersity works pretty well. Helps if you have a decent/fast comp though.

Normally issues are firewall. You may need to manually open some ports for both to communicate to each other. You should be able to find a DIY on the xbox website.

The router has a hardware firewall that you need to get around. Go to the routers support page.

    BINGO!!

the address for the routers settings is usually 192.168.1.15 or something to that effect. It will be in your router manual.

You will have to open the ports that you need and enable UPnP there.

The required firewall ports are open on my computer and the router's UPnP are enabled already, still no cigar.
