Canadian tire usually rotates them on sale every couple weeks.
Does anyone know why it's so hard to find LED bulbs in BR20?
Sure I can find them online but they seem to be fairly expensive relative to other sizes. When I'm browsing store shelves, I never seem to find them.
In contrast, PAR20 is available all over the place.
Same thing for Short neck PAR30. I'm still debating if I actually want them at $7.50 each on amazon...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
How about the best place to get LED 48" fluorescent replacements that allow me to ditch the ballasts?
Will fuck off, again.
I didn't even know they made these until last week. Went to an office and first thing I noticed was how amazing the florescent lighting looked. Just blown away. Asked immediately, and was told they just had it retrofitted with LED drop in tubes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I think I saw LED tube replacements at Costco. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Just reread and see that you want to ditch the ballasts, not sure which kind Costco has.
Somewhere in this thread is my link to Costco LED shop lights, which are pretty decent. I hardwired them instead of using the plug-in.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Does anyone know which brand doesnt fuck with your garage door? both my cfl's have blown and I wanted to replace them with LED. I have a liftmaster if that matters.
Am I reading that right? There are LED tubes that can be installed in fluorescent fixtures, no modification required? (T8 size?)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Again, Costco, $20 for LED T8's.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yeah, Home Depot has them but I want to ditch the ballast as that eliminates a failure point. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Christ I hate CFL tube lights. They dim over time so it just gets darker... and darker... and darker... until they die and you're left in a sad sack half lit office.
i'd say the ballast is the biggest problem with these, i don't see a point to putting in led tubes that still utilise the ballast, its still gonna fail on you. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

My dad and I are retrofitting a whole shop tomorrow. The best way to do it is to replace the whole assembly. You can use the LED tube but you need to ditch the ballast and replace it with a computer controller.
For example - at electrician rates it costs $35 to remove and replace and $40 for parts to change the fluorescent fixture to an LED fixture.
