LED Light bulbs?

Might have been debated already but what kelvin do you guys go with? For me I’ve settled on 2800kelvin. I find this best matches incandescent bulbs.

Only issue I’ve found is the 2800kelvin dimmable over my kitchen table is too yellow

It boils down to preference. To me beam angle, CRI and lumens need to be considered as well.

People will go as high as 5,000k in offices, bathrooms and the kitchen. Bedrooms, media rooms, etc 2,700 - 3,000k.

I hate none uniform light so I have 4,000k through the house. I find brown/earthy colours work better at 3,000k and grey/white/blue at 4,000k. 4,000k is very close to a neutral/natural white colour.

50+ par 30 short neck leds at $15 a light because I’m picky about colour, cri, lumens and beam spread.

5000K is the tits for the pantry, closets, tiny main bathroom and garage. The softer ones, elsewhere.

What's the consensus on "best" potlight in 2019? I've got to install about 16-20 in my basement, which is unfinished.

Am I better off going retrofit/slimline style? Seems like it would be easier than having to measure and pre-cut my drywall before hanging it on the ceiling.

Assuming you need PAR30 bulbs in short neck which a lot of houses use.

Costco often has a very similar one for a similar price, its a few bucks less when on sale.

To update the thread - I ended up using about two dozen Lithonia WF4 (wafer style retrofit LED lights) and am really pleased with the product. Quality, ease of installation and CRI/light colour are all top notch. At $16 a light I am impressed at the quality. I sourced them locally from Gescan. I'd recommend buying about 5-10% extra as spare units to ensure you have identical replacements in the inevitable case of failure.

Will be adding another 48" LED fixture in my garage this weekend and move some other fixtures around, don't think I'll need to add any more lighting in there.

On a side note, just over 80% of our fixtures/bulbs are now LED, the remaining non-LED ones probably won't be changed out for a long time as they are used so infrequently. 8 of the remaining bulbs are in the basement TV room and are incandescent, 2 are fluorescent and are in an under stairs storage area , the incandescent will go first.

Home Depot double row 4ft and 8ft LED strip fixtures. Very bright, good 4000k colour but not advertised by them. Tuscany has them and I’ve found some in Airdrie before.
