Had an LED bulb die on me today. It's less than a year old, was "great value" brand from Walmart. Turned itself into a strobe light, which is pretty distracting over my breakfast table.
That's the first LED bulb I've had to replace so far. Hope the rest of them live up to the advertised longevity.

Sadly, most of my original Feit's have died. Around 2/3's of them. I'm down to 2 rooms using those.

Seems like a lot of these bulbs aren't living up to the claimed lifespan. That was a big factor in the economics of these.

I'd say you get what you pay for. None of my Philips failed, except for one which was dropped from the ceiling to concrete floor during basement renos.

The Feit's were certainly disappointing when it comes to reliability though at that kind of failure rate, but again, they were way cheaper than the Philips at the time. Actually at $13 a pop 6 years ago, they were probably the cheapest ones you can get.

Depends what music you listen to at breakfast and if it matches the beat.

I'm just envisioning ExtraSlow, doing a rendition of Enter Sandman.

Ive had about 4 of my 50+ cree bulbs fail, they have a 10yr replacement warranty and just ship you a new one.

Sadly the longevity claim is for the led itself, not the driver circuit or anything else involved (solder joints, etc)

Of the 4 cree failures two were the bulb glass came unglues from the base, and 1 was completely shot, 1 flickered annoyingly

I'm coming up on 4 years of having my Philips bulbs installed. No failures on 34 bulbs.

I have had one cree that was dead when I installed it (Twisted the housing off of the connector somehow) but all my philips have been fine for years now. Even the slim style which attract all of the bugs and then they die on top and then it is disgusting when you clean the lights. Did buy a bunch of the costco bulbs though during the energy rebate so will see how long those last. Did cree stop selling their bulbs in Canada though? I liked those flow-through bulbs for the garage but was never able to find the 100 w at homedepot, only 60 and now it looks like they carry no cree.

I had about 50 Feit bulbs deployed in my house. Over the span of 1 year we saw about a 1-in-3 failure rate. They would start sporadically dimming and getting brighter again or would just completely fail to light. Some started flickering really badly.
I got curious about what the failure mode was so I cracked a bunch open and you could spot black dots on the LEDs themselves with no other obvious modes of failure.
For the ones that were still working about 1 in 2 were buzzing audibly.

Because all of the Philips bulbs I installed (about 20 total) are still working (some are as old as 5 years) I decided to replace all the Feit bulbs with Philips and gave the Feit to a family member who wouldn't hear the buzzing and doesn't mind the failure rate because they're free.

Saw about a 15% failure rate in my FEITs too. Super dissappointing as i did up the basement with 20 pot cans. Havnt found a comparable 5k par38 bulb yet.. which matters because i was told the bulb i bought were new stock, and apparantly are not being manufactured anymore.

I'm not changing out my par38 pots. Have twenty or so, and need dimmable. Since I use that room very little, I'd never pay back my investment.

I've had about 3 out of 8 original Cree bulbs fail (the rubberized ones, not the vented ones) will have to look into getting them replaced.

I use TCP for these specific type of applications. Take your pick of the PAR38s: https://www.tcpi.com/wp-content/uplo...tput-PAR38.pdf

They have three 5000k PAR38s in that particular model, Spot, Narrow flood or Flood. All at massive 1800 Lumens compared to the FIETs 750.

Lower output PAR38s are here: https://www.tcpi.com/wp-content/uplo...mmable-PAR.pdf

Spec sheets are the best way to find details on the TCP product line. I bought mine through an electrical supplied in the SE, they ordered them in for me.

Anyone have suggestions for led appliance bulbs? Fridge and microwave have 40w and both have dimming functions. Would hate to buy ones that didn't dim properly.
    Cool white or daylight preferred.
