Default Best way to repair plastic?

Kind of an odd question, but I had left a pair of my brother's expensive headphones on the floor of my room (100% my fault) and one night I stumbled in drunk and stepped on them, so their broken. One of the Arms snapped, the part that is adjustable that attaches to the actual ear piece on each side. It is that really glossy/shiny type plastic, not too sure how to describe it. The headset functions perfectly, however, so I need to try fix it.

Anyways, I tried superglue, some epoxy I had and I don't really know what else to use. Nothing seems to hold at all - I really thought super glue would do the trick. Right now duct tape is working by far the best, except that is an unacceptable solution haha because you can't adjust them if their wrapped in duct tape.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Grab a soldering iron and melt them back together. You may need some spare plastic to use as a bond.

Melting it together sounds like it would work really well, but if I screw up I could permanently wreck it. I will definitely try that if I can't glue it back together. I had an old soldering iron that would work perfectly.

On JB weld's website, it lists a ton of things that it will bond, except for all three products offered, plastic is not listed as one of the things it will bond so I'm not sure how it will work.

Thanks for the suggestions thus far!

don't melt it...plastic will not bond properly unless plsatic welded...plus you will likely melt the electronics. Sand down the surfaces a bit and drill odd-angled tiny holes in the two halves. then use a specialized epoxy (will depend on the type of plastic) and glue the halves together. If you can figure out the type of plastic I can hut you down a source for the epoxy.

shiny, hard plastics never plastic weld quite right together, my suggestion would be a little sanding and some instant glue like Super T

    http://www.neopoxy.us/adhesives.html

these are some of the only adhesives that will properly bond if PVC...either that or a small amount of solvent to melt the sides together without heating.

They are his brothers... He doesnt want his brother to know he broke them. 2 wide ass strips of aluminium along the sides? Never a dead give-away....

go with JGerke's suggestion. Thats what I would have done.

Sorry I should have been more clear. He knows I broke them but its not a huge deal, if I can repair them so they function as normal I don't have to pay $200 for new ones.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I will hopefully try them out this weekend.

Plastic is the hardest thing to glue together, but i've found that GOOP (purple tube, i think plumbers version) is the absolute best. Use some, then clamp it down and wait a day.

Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.

Should have gotten your brother drunk and then let him step on it again. Problem solved.

I'm not very helpful, am I?
