    Default 88 Bmw M5

I've got a bit of money to blow...and I think it's time for a new..or somewhat new...car. Something fun..something different...something rare. Not an S2000....350Z....G35....but an M5 instead. I've always loved the classic BMW's....they never age and always look good. I've been doing countless hours of research on the net as of late. These things are hard to come by...especially one that's in good condition.

I was cruising through E-Bay and found this Turbo M5.

Amazing car. But...I've never bought a car via online auction nor long distance. You guys have any suggestions or helpful hints? It would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Yup but if you get the right project, thats half the fun, driving it, fixing it, driving it again, fixing it, until she is exactly the way you want it, then you always seem to sell it and then regret it. Vicious fucking circle

my advice would be to take a gun, put it to your cock, and pull the trigger. You will thank me when you start saving millions of dollars you would be spending on the m5 because you cant sit anymore.

The style might not age but the rest of the stuff in the car sure does. Those older bimmers are notorious for having the insulation on the wiring becoming brittle and falling off, causing shorts. The only way to fix it is to re-wire the whole car.

If that sounds like fun then by all means

My 88 528e has over 350xxx km on it and no wiring problems or electrical shorts, yes some of them do but that doesn't mean every e28 has one.

Not to mention, if your buying an 88 Turbo m5, then yes its going to be a project, yes shit is going to break on it and yes its going to cost you money to keep it going, but isn't that the fun of being a car enthusiasts and owning a car like that? In my opinion it is, the car looks great and has quite a bit done to it, don't miss the opportunity and then regret it later. Atleast if you don't like it when you get it here I may buy it in 6 months if your selling :P

^ Hell, if you can get a good one they're awesome cars. Not all have issues. Just do your due diligence when buying!

It doesn't really bother me though, knowing that I will have to dump money into such a car. I enjoy working on cars and would find it to be a fun hobby. I know that I'll never get that money back...and that's fine...but, it's something that I've always wanted to do.

That being said, I'll have to look at each one...and do some extensive homework...before putting a penny down.

Also, it's more the body style than anything else...so it doesn't have to be an M series.

that m6 is fucking classic,.. i love that look.. its definately unique and looks sweet, but so does that m5

i say buy it and enjoy it, expect to have some repairs with it, but make sure you have a solid car to work with before you buy it

    GET INSPECTIONS!

other then that.. ya go nuts, don't forget you have to pay 12% duty and taxes at the boarder on your american car, and also consider shipping and inspections in canada into the price before you start making big financial decisions.

I've bought from ebay before, beware and make sure you know and understand exactly what your doing..

    good luck

Buy one in Japan, less money, and likely fewer kilometres. A bit more hassle than bringing in from the US, but probably worth it.

I really hate the look of the old BMW's... it really looks old and is very hard to look at. But I don't like the new BMW's either so...
