Default Laptop Not connecting to Network

Hi, so i bought a new laptop and expected it to connect immediatly to the Network. I tried to do so but it didnt want to connect, it said it cannot connect and had no reason. But then i could make attempts at connecting to my neighbours it asked for a password but i could still get to the password point of things. With my home network it didnt even let me get to the password part of things. now all other laptops and desktops in my home have no problem accessing the network let alone the many other laptops that have come through here. Any reason why this may be happening?

Try updating/re-installing your drivers for your network device on the laptop?

    run the network wizard?

If its seeing the network of the neighbours it's not a driver issue per sé. Try releasing and renewing your ip address, if this fails then manually entering your wireless network info into the Wireless Network adapters profile from the "Network Connections" portion of the start menu may also work (make sure you're broadcasting an SSID in the first place for your laptop to see before going to the manual route). It's also a chance the laptop does not have a compatible network card capable of connecting to WPA-PSKII secured network if thats what you're currently running. Or the router is broadcasting in a band not configured on the laptop(a/b/g).

You could also assign a manual IP address to the laptop within the IP range of the routers DHCP, but again, you need to be able to see your own router, because I'm sure you're not dumb enough to be supplying an unprotected wireless network from your home.

Also, if you're having problems with the security level, you might want to install the Microsoft WPA2 patch. I have a copy of it avabilable here..

This way you can avoid that pesky MS validation.

I hate to thread hijack but the question is extremely similar. My buddy's laptop is having problems with connecting to both wireless and LAN. I removed and installed the drivers for the network card from the Toshiba site. Now it still won't connect and under "Device Manager", it is indicating the drivers are corrupt but the device is working properly.

I found the original installers for the drivers on his laptop and tried to install those and am still having the same problem.

Any advice on what I should do now?
