    Default Mazda3

    Think you’ve figured out what compact cars are all about? Think again. The MAZDA3 is about more than the typical things you get from a compact, like efficient transportation, versatility and good gas mileage. A whole lot more.

    It’s about getting a ride completely unlike the typical compact car and more like what you’d expect from the engineers who just got finished designing the new Mazda RX-8. The MAZDA3’s suspension is engineered to provide the sort of curve-hugging, road-gripping, quick-steering response you get from a European sport sedan. The engines are designed to provide plenty of oomph to power you out of a tight curve.

    It’s about getting far more than you’ve been led to believe is possible in a compact car. Like standard 4-wheel disc brakes and available 17-inch alloy wheels. Like a choice of 2.0- or 2.3-liter engines -- the sort you’d expect to find in bigger and more expensive cars.

    And of course, there’s plenty of cargo room, passenger room and flexibility to get you, your friends and your gear wherever you need to go. You’ll just have a lot more fun doing it than with any other compact car.

    since mazda 6 was 626 replacement i think this would be 323 replacement?? i don't know for sure tho.....

    I don't think Mazda has produced a 323 in quite some time.

    They are probably going to give the protege the axe and replace it with that. Its not radically different from the P5.
    Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.

    The Protege's are still 323's....I think they dropped the "323" for marketing purposes....

    Yeah I like it as well! Mazda is going through a revival of sorts. Mazdaspeed, RX8, Mazda6, upcoming turbo Miata, now this. I can only imagine how the next RX7 will look like if it ever makes it to production.

    One word: MAZDA9

    That will be Mazda's real next big move. This Mazda3 thing (323/Protegé/Protegé5 replacement) looks really good though.

    If they have a 2door hatch as well that would be sweet.. that thing will be pretty sweet.

    Damn that dash looks sexy! Yeah the Protege is just a 323 under a different name. Looks like the mazda 3 will jsut be a new name for the protege

    I don't see why they are replacing the protege' however..it seems to be doing well. Everywhere i look theres people with them mistaking them for sports cars or something...

    Not replacing per se, not in the usual sense. Just changing the name.
