CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE
    -----------------------------------------------------------------

On Thursday August 17, 2007 at approximately 11:25 PM the
Calgary Police Service responded to a complaint of gun shots
in the parking lot of the Sunridge Spectrum Threatre. At the
scene investigators discovered a male in his twenties
suffering from a gun shot wound to his head.

The victim was transported to the Peter Lougheed Hospital
where he was treated and at last report was in critical but
    stable condition.

While it is too early in the investigation to determine if
this incident was gang related investigators are convinced
    that it was not random.

Default Calgary man shot in the head.

    http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/Alberta/...24595-sun.html

Shocked moviegoers leaving a northeast theatre watched in horror as a man was gunned down in the parking lot last night.

Police said the victim was shot once in the head in front of 15 witnesses about 20 metres from the entrance of Cineplex Odeon Sunridge Spectrum just after 11:30 p.m.

Duty Insp. Keith Cain said the man survived and was taken to hospital but his condition not known.

"We have one male victim shot in the head with a handgun. We don't believe it was a random occurrence."

Cain said police were hunting a vehicle one witness believed was connected to the shooting, but haven't confirmed was involved.

One witness, Dylan Twoyoungmen, 13, said he saw the victim, a male in his 20s, inside the theatre. The next time he saw him, the victim was lying in the parking lot in a pool of blood, trying to stand, while onlookers told him to stay still.

"It was scary. We heard lots of screaming," he said.

How smart is that, putting a witnesses name in the paper?
You gotta think that would put a bit of fear into a 13 year old kid that's likely already having bad dreams over seeing that shit even if it doesn't say he saw the shooter or whatever.

Once again..random shootings don't happen to innocent people. Like usual there is probably way mroe to thsi story. Those who deal in bad ways end up having bad things happen to them. Its that simple.

    I disagree.

Random things do happen to innocent people with all the goon's in this city these days.

ex. Who knows, maybe he fucked the shooters sister?
Eveyone in Calgary now seems to be a "Gangster" and even kids in highschool have firearms.

This city really is coming to shit in some aspects.

I went to the 7 oclock pre screening of Superbad there last night.

Shitty deal!!! Glad I missed out on that one!

As for random shit happening to random people, I will side with Rage. While things do happen to random people, the amount of stabbings and shootings that do happen, happen to people involved in stupid situations.

Outside of road rage and robbery, home invasions. Innocent people are rarely shot at or stabbed.

If you have 100 shootings, stabbings, or murders in general. As a guestimate I would say 15-20 % involve innocent non related parties. (random guess)

    I'd say its even less.

    Trouble finds trouble.

Innocent people getting shot, stabbed, beat up is less then 5% IMO.

There's a lot or random beating around here, bad ones too. Native "gangs" randomly attacking people in groups for whatever reason. Most recent one was a kid walking through on tuesday night. Pictures in the paper today and he still has shoe treads imprinted on his face in a picture taken two days later. Last month a random kid got beaten unconcious and is paralyzed while walking. Awhile ago another kid got beat walking home from work so bad that his parents couldn't recognize him.

All of those have been proven random, especially the paralyzed guy - he only lived in saskatoon for a few weeks.

Completely agreed though that random stabbings/shootings are very few and far between, almost always a history behind that shit.
