New Canon offerings leaked

Not sure how accurate the features list is since Canon hasn't officially announced it yet, but Amazon "accidently" listed the 40D for preordering this week. It was quickly brought down, but by then people and quoted and screen captured the page:

Feature-wise, it's quite a step up from the 20D and 30D (aka 20D MkII) and even inherits a few things from the pro bodies. A couple things that caught my eye:
- I'm particularly interested in how the colour will look now with the 14-bit A/D conversion
- Auto ISO
- Wireless capability (though it requires the wireless add-on)
- ISO in the viewfinder (about time!)
- Highlight Tone Priority
- Replaceable focus screens
- Improved AF
- Bigger VF



They've even added IS and USM to (what is presumably) the kit lens:

That new 1DS mk3 looks pretty bad-ass however, as does the 40D. Time for Nikon to ante up.

I hope they use sony's new 12MP CMOS on the D300. It is apparently good for over 10 FPS and has much better high ISO. I doubt it will shoot that fast in the D300 though.

Looks like Canon is trying to grab the market that Nikon captured with the 50-200VR. Its cool to see that IS/VR is now available on lows of lower cost lenses.

I'm looking forward to the D200 replacement, I'll likely snag a D200 at that point.

holy crap, looking at the 40D specs... it makes the 1D mark III a much less desirable body. It's getting many of the features of the 1D. That's interesting that they'd make the 40D step that much into the 1D territory.

I'm sure the price will somewhat drop. But it'll really drop when the 5D replacement is announced. It will likely have all these cool features too. You know a bunch of gearheads will be unloading their 5D's so I'll bet you can get a used one really cheap!

no kidding! the weather sealing is really what catches my attention. I am glad they didnt go crazy and put in a 12MP sensor.

this years new releases really makes up for canon's short comings last year. Nikon really stole the show in 06.

the 5D has no competition. it has the least noise in the market and a FF sensor. there is no reason to revamp something that has no competition.

It also has a very small market to begin with. 5D sales have been terrible as of late, Canon needs to do something to make it more attractive, and I'd rather see a revamp than a rebate.

I see they have released a new 14L. Canon's weak spot has always been on the wides. The new 14 sounds promising but pricing is pretty steep.

that seems like quite the stretch.

they don't make their own crop sensors, I'm curious to see these FF sensors

Yeah it might be a bit of a stretch for tomorrow's announcement, but nonetheless it's the most reasonable i've seen so far. I'm just praying for that D300.

the 40D weathersealing is NOT full weathersealing apparently.

buttons and camera seams are not all sealed.

I could see Nikon throwing in live view and a faster FPS for the D300.

the 51 AF points I doubt. it only has 11 now and so does the D2X

I've heard rumours about a nikon full frame. very interested to see that.

That is correct, the 40D only has sealing on the battery compartment and storage compartment. Seems like almost a waste to me, as if that's all that's sealed I still wouldn't take it out in the rain.

I don't care about live view but I would love to see the D300 at 6+ FPS....it only seams reasonable that they would match or one-up the 40D's 6.5.

I agree, 51 AF points is unlikely. How do you use that many AF points anyways? It would take forever to thumb through them all with the cursor.
