    Kryn, did you train your dog yourself, or do any training with retrieval classes etc?

    Been thinking about getting some sort of bird dog in the future to add to the pack (which is one pup and one cat atm).

    Jasper (a Brittany Spaniel) is currently only 9 months old and far from a finished dog. At only 3 months old I was attending training sessions with both Wild Rose NAVHDA and Prairie Vista NAVHDA, under the guidance of people from both clubs I have done the majority of his training my self. He is currently steady to flush and is just starting to retrieve. We have a long way to go next year training wise to hopefully get him retrieving to hand, steady to flush & shot as well as as understanding 'whoa'. Luckily in Calgary and the surrounding area we are blessed with lots of amazing breeders and trainers. I will start working with some trainers 1 on 1 next year as I am figuring this out as I go and likely making tons of mistakes. But every time we are out chasing birds it's a blast.

    If you haven't decided on a breed I would strongly suggest you check out the Small Munsterlander. We have a great local breeder Four Point Kennels. If you do pull the trigger on a working dog let me know, I will help out however I can!

    If only Jasper's brother (a cat) would give him the time of day haha.

    Well after losing our pups over the summer my wife finally was ready to get another, so we rescued this little girl last week. Sweet little terrier cross of some kind, super gentle and hooked to my wife at the ankle...

    What a cutie. Congrats and sorry to hear about your other dogs.

    We just put our 4 month old pug in daycare. Today was his second day and he is still at the ankles f whoever is working in the room.
