Woke my ass up at 230 this morning flying over our place for 20 min. spotlight and all, anyone else get woken up by this POS in

If it woke you up, they were probably doing it on purpose.

The helicopter is actually pretty cool. I was talking to one of the pilots at a display a few years back, and he said that the design of the exhaust is such that they can fly at different volumes.

At a certain angle they're almost silent, which they might want to use for general patrol, so as not to disturb anyone. But if they're coming into a hot situation, they can change the way they fly to alert everyone on the ground to their presence (apparently a pretty high percentage of people who would normally run give up as soon as they see the chopper).

At least, that's what I remember him saying anyway. Maybe someone was running...

yup hawc1 was a hughes 520 (i think) it's the quietest helicopter ever made. it's a shame they don't make these anymore. the new bird, hawc2 is A LOT louder!

hawc can be annoying, but the traffic helicopters in the morning are the worst

Those hawks can get pretty intimidating, I remember when they had a huge house party down in sandstone and there were two hawks that were in the skies to break it up.
