    fun bikes, but horribly underpowered

id recommend it as an excellent starter bike for a slim girl, or smaller guy (not being sexist), just because these bikes are great to learn on, but any one over about 150 pounds starts to want way more speed and power than this bike will ever deliver.

i want one just for bebopping around town in, but have no money for such a toy.

their single is half the twin of the bigger buell bikes right?

I think they look pretty cool, and they're supposed to be fun to boot around.

I rode one of these during my training school to get my liscense.. I had no experience riding a head of time so I can say this was a great starters bike.. I had no problems at all with it. However I wouldn't spend the money to buy one. First of all the clutch sucks.. the friction zone is extremely small and takes some getting used to.. second of all the thing clunks like none other.. albeit mine was one of the schools work hoses so it probably took a beating from people who had no idea of how to operate a manual transmission before..

I however did look into this and actually considered getting one as a first bike and heard complaints about reliability and the clutch from various owners in general.. it's a cheap bike you get what you pay for but you can get a lot more for your money looking for a used YZF or Suzuki SV IMO.

These bikes are Not half the twin, The engine design is more like a Rotax than one cyl from the venerable Sportster-derived V-Twin.
My bitches about this bike: Vibration! Worse even than my ancient Ducati single. They are rubber mounted, but you feel it at the stoplight when the engine feels like it is about to jump out of the frame.
Sexist comment: Maybe the vibration is why they make such a good Girls bike.

They are waayy tooo expensive for what you get.
Nice try, Eric, but put your R&D $ into the Lightning.

It will be for a while - thats my bet.
$6900 puts it out of the price of any starter bike made. Hell, a brand new Kaw 250 Ninja is 1200 less $ and will suck the Buell's headlight out in any contest of performance and practicality.

Want a great old single? Find an old Yamaha SR500 or SRX 600, or a Honda Ascot, for a fraction of the price of the used Buell..

Especially since for $4000 you can get an absolutely immaculate SRX. I know of a yellow one for sale in Chilliwack for $3600, and the Supertrapp is negotiable. 32,000 km, babied, Beautiful!
