    Default Costco in Bellingham WA

Here is one from the Americans-just-keep-getting-dumber department...

There is a Facebook group trying to lobby for an "Americans Only Day" at the Bellingham WA Costco.

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bellin...52699958200765

Apparently too many Canadians (many being of south Asian descent) go to that Costco to stock up on milk because it is less than half the price than Canadian milk. Some of the comments on the Facebook page are nothing short of ridiculous.

The local ABC affiliate even had a segment about it on their news and it is starting to hit the Canadian news agencies as well.

they do sell single items...but I suspect you may have to buy a case lot of ammo if they did sell firearms.

Apparently it's due to severe overcrowding, or so says their Facebook page. Lots of stupid anti American/Canadian comments from both sides though

We do get screwed on fresh and tinned milk here though.

Its nearly $2 a tin for Carnation in Calgary, Nunavut is more like $6 per tin nowadays. US price is sometimes around 60 cents.

The US should stop subsidizing foodstuffs and let it appreciate to its real price, which should be around $4 per 330 ml tin, instead of 60 cents.
    Cocoa $11,000 per tonne.

How cheap is the bloody milk to make this worthwhile?

Milk expires extremely quick, it's not like you can go buy 10 jugs.

I don't think there is anything against bringing milk into Canada for personal consumption, but I can imagine its a chain store owner that is looking to fill a few rows of standing fridges every week.

For resale is technically not allowed, its supposed to be bought in Canada (which is why its so expensive)

One truckload of Chobani Yogurt was 18 tons (also banned for commercial resale in Canada until recently) so I can imagine what the $ difference would be on a truckload of milk.

Why would Canadians drive down to Washington state to buy milk that probably has a lot of rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone) in it?

Are they trying to get a cheap boob job?

It's brown people to be exact. They buy ridiculous amounts of milk for making yogurt or something? It's a problem here too, and well documented on beyond.

    That and dairy cartel.

You obviously haven't been to a grocery shop in NE Calgary
Ditto on Rage's comment regarding Surrey haha
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.

One of my best friends drives down to Bellingham from Surrey all the time. Cheap gas, cheap cheese, cheap clothes, etc. If I could, I would do it also rather than paying 2-3X the cost for the same products.

It usually lasts up to 2 weeks and I have seen EI buys likes 40-50l in one shot.

So I'm sure you can save easy $100 per trip to US. That's almost 15hr of paid if you work for minimum wage!
