Can I get this if only one of my parents was born in the UK?
Unless something has changed recently, yes.Originally posted by GoChris

I received my British passport for the first time this past March -- the entire process was easier than the last time I renewed my (expired) Canadian Passport in 2006. Both my parents came to Canada on British passports, though my mom had one of those overseas British citizen ones (Hong Kong). Only my dad was born in the UK. The thing they seemed most uptight about was making sure that my parents were married when I was born (I suppose to confirm that I am my father's son ? )
UK offers more visa free travel than a Canadian passport...I might want to go to Brazil for the World Cup, I'm going to Turkey next spring ($20 visa for UK passport vs $60 visa for Canadian), I might go to UAE in 2015 (the outrageous cost of a visa for Canadian passports pretty much covers the cost of the British passport, which gives visa free access to the UAE). I also hope to travel to Palestine someday (which can only be accessed by traveling through Israel), and having a second (British) passport would help....I don't think I'd be greeted with open arms at Ben Gurion when I show up with a used Iranian visa in my Canadian passport (or vice versa).
I don't think I have EVER used my Canadian passport.
It expired a while ago and haven't bothered renewing it.
UK passport is hassle free. Even going to Canada I always use my British Passport, haven't had a problem at all.
As mentioned above there are far more perk to a British passport than Canadian.
Yeah I spent 9 months in Europe without having to worry about visa runs or anything silly like that. Canadian passport holders have 3 months in the schengen zone.
Cross borders in Europe on my British passport and whenever I got stopped by the police or had to show my passport for any other reason (secure hotel rooms, etc) and I would pull out the Canadian one, people seemed to like Canadians more than Brits
Best of both worlds.
DOES ANYONE NEED A GO-JUICE?
And yes, I'd be living in Spain if it weren't for the massive economic problems in Europe right now.
A move to a warm European climate is definitely in my future.

As far as I can tell Form C1 is for applying for passports. Since my daughter is just about 2 I have to use Form MN1 - APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION OF A CHILD UNDER 18 AS A BRITISH CITIZEN.Originally posted by Cos
Same thing to you. Is it still the C1 form from before?
If you have have the cash why not hire a lawyer experienced in this stuff?
