Looks like it will be another nice night for racing.
Any of you guys coming out? I might race the civic again if it gets a little cooler then announced.

Going to autocross... for the first time! If I want to drag do I have to pay both drag and autox fees? also its ok to have a passenger as long as they wear a helmet right?
how big are usually these events?
well last week we had 186 cars for drags and probably about 30 for auto x. Also it was big rig weekend so the place was packed with them.
autox and drag I believe is still 40$ but it may just be 25 for both i'm not sure.
A passenger can ride with you for drags but I think you have to let off at the 1/8th mile.
Thanks for the info. Is there like a list of 'etiquette' to follow? First time autocrossing and I don't want to piss people off.
I'll be there. Gonna take betty out for a last ride while I still can
I like things with wheels.
Not going, Way to busy last week.
Talk to someone running the autocross and tell them that this is your first time. They will arrange for you to ride in other cars for a few times first, and if possible, get one of the experienced drivers to go around with you as a passenger the first time. It's easy to get lost on the course, since it takes mental practice to memorize the pylon course in just a few minutes.Originally posted by cotang

Be sure to take it intentionally slow the first couple of times around the course. It's very easy to overestimate you and your car's capabilities to handle all those corners. The people running the event really, really don't like it if you spin out.
The best part of life isn't around the corner. It IS the corner.
I agree about taking it slow on the first few runs, your goal should be to get from start to finish without getting lost, crushing cones or crashing. Only then should you start going for faster times.
I wouldn't say they don't like it. Other drivers and the organizers get concerned, and the spectators love it. It doesn't mean you're a reckless driver, it just shows that you're pushing your car.Originally posted by Murray Peterson

I've spun out at almost every secret street I've been to (and I probably will again this friday) and it's not because I'm an awful driver, or that I try to spin out. Given that this event isn't a serious competition, I try different braking or shift points, lines and other experimentation and as a result I learn something, and as with any kind of learning, you make mistakes.
I am going to try the MS3 out at the drags. I am hoping that the long weekend will mean less cars???

same here and it usually does so should get more runs in.
Heat will again be the enemy.
Looking forward to see what an ms3 can do!
too bad i don't have the subie still, it would be an interesting race if we lined up.Originally posted by mikestypes

I hate running when it's hot.. I know my car does too..

Are we talking about the white MS3 with the gold rims?

so my little 16 year old civic is faster then a speed 3 that has 260hp?
Totally driver owned. Mike did some good times in his rsx, I'm sure he'll do better than that.Originally posted by gpomp

The car put more down than an srt-4, so 14's at 100mph should be possible on less than a horrendous night.
Geez, I really have to come out for this...
Hopefully it's not too busy as I will be a bit late.(7pm)
I will be there in the Z.
I'm hoping to run some decent times in Calgary. Gotta learn how to shift this thing sometime, so practice practice practice.
Drag radials and hopefully an 11.2 would be nice. But I'll just be happy with anything 11.49 or quicker.
BAAAAHHHHHHH, not going to make it this week. Just don't have the time to put the parts back on the car after been at the dealer this week. Will have to be next week.
