    Default real estate lawyer

anyone recommend a real estate lawyer? We just switched our mortgage over and need a lawyer to do all the legal work.

Prefer not to get screwed in fees.

The bank you are dealing with should have an in house lawyer who takes care of all the legal documents.

it's through MCAP and we are responsible...they just give us a list. I am not impressed by this, we have never had to do it ourselves. We are transferring our mortgage to a better rate, it's no a new house sale.

Whatever you do don't go to "Your Lawyer" They screwed me royally. The previous owner owed property back taxes and the lawyer is supposed to make sure thats all taken care of before the deal goes thru, they didn't. It took me and my wife about 40 phone calls and a nervous breakdown, to get PART of the money.

Okay thanks guys, I think we have an idea of what we are going to do. I can't believe the price differences in some of the fees they charge. I have everything from 480 - 1600.

Anything over $1000 is WAY too much for a simple re-finance or re-mortgage.

What do you think is a good rate for a re-finance or re-mortgage?

My first mortgage cost me $1000 and that did not feel good at all. Not sure if I should have gone with a lawyer who charged less, but didn't know if that meant that they weren't as thorough.
