Arrow Warranty question about ordering from US

So, I think I have finally decided on which lens I want to get, and if I order from the US I can save myself just over $200.

Now, my question is... will my Canon warranty still be valid here?

If anyone has any experience with this or knows for sure, please let me know.

if it comes with a canadian warranty card you will be fine.

my 30D card has a canada and US card.

As long as you don't buy a grey market lens, Canon Canada will honour it. I had to get one of my US lenses serviced and it wasn't a problem at all.

Nice thing is that Calgary has a Canon service center.

Just got a confirmation from the online shop aswell that this is the case... Time to order my new lens.

Also IMO I don't know why many people would order grey market lenses seeing as they are not much cheaper than US market.

The difference used to be in the hundreds of dollar range.

Remember, the only reason you are buying in the US is because the US dollar is so low. It is the same for other markets. So the grey market lenses have gotten more expensive.

Canon USA isn't making as much money as it used to due to the weak US dollar.

Well, I JUST got a lens back from canon (the 24-70L) which I bought from B&H earlier this year. There were no issues sending the lens to canon in canada, with a receipt from the US.

The only problem is... the zoom ring is uber stiff around 24mm.

^^^ That sucks about the zoom ring, but good to hear as I'm ordering from B&H myself.

What about Nikon's service centers? Or do they even have one in Canada?

One in Vancouver, and I think there's one in Mississauga.

Will they service US or black market lenses? I guess they probably would eh? If you pay them I doubt they care what country their lens is from.

Gray market, no. US lenses must be serviced by US repair centers. (Melville or El Segundo.)

Interesting. That's unfrotunate, however it is almost always a better deal to buy Nikon stuff in Canada anyways after duty/tax/shipping it's usually the same price or cheaper to buy locally, especially on the cheaper stuff (sub $1000). That's what I've noticed, anyways - unless I'm looking in the wrong places haha.

Are you sure about that? From what I know, the Nikon warranties are fully international, so you should have no issues bringing your US or Asian lens to a Canadian repair centre and vice versa. Their official stance is that the location of the receipt must match the location stamped on the warranty card, and the warranty will be honored worldwide (otherwise it'd just be a grey market).

As for Canon, no issues. I bought a lens from the US for my father in law and it got serviced at the depot here in Calgary, no issues.

And no, Canon isn't making less money. Canon USA is making just as much as they were making 3 or 5 years ago. Canon Canada is just making MORE money because of hte higher MSRP. Just like the car manufacturers. They're NOT losing money on each car they sell. They are just making MORE money from Canadians. Suckers. I mean... d'oh.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

Should have combined them into one original question, but what about Sigma?

I am interested in buying off of sigma4less.com. Is Sigma's warranty international or is it best to also purchase a MACK warranty?
