Anybody recommend a place that does 3M? A good job and decently priced?
I would do a search for previous threads but can't search anything shorter than 3 characters.

There are a bunch of posts under the car care and detailing section. Shadow Tinting and Icon seem to be the most popular, I myself have used Shadow many a times and am always super happy with their work.
Shadow did my CF hood, but it was done before I owned the car... Owned it almost 2 years and I'm still glad it was done. Very impressed with the job and the product.

sorry a little off topic but doesn't
the 3m looks like crap after a bit
the dirt stick to the edges of it
i'm debating doing it but have
seen many black cars with it
and it looks like junk
that depends on many factors. It'll look like crap if it is not properly maintained or applied to the car. The older material seems to apply to the conditions as described in your case. The newer material seems thinner but more durable. But you still have to properly maintain the 3m material every so often to prevent dirt from sticking on the edges and from losing the shine on the 3m surface.Originally posted by chanman

how do you go about cleaning it
is there certain procedures
that are different that cleaning
my car
I believe you have to wax it regularly... I try to wax mine after every car wash...
well not really wax the 3m since most waxes leave a white residue on non-painted material. Most times you can use a plastic polish that won't harm the surface (there are some products that can take the shine off the 3m but can't think of them on the top of my head right now) and leave a nice glossy shine to it. One example of the product is Plexus plastic cleaner.

#M just came up with a new formula about 2-4 months ago for a film that won't fade nearly as bad. I know Phantom Auto Films offers this new 3M clearbra.
i heard 303 is good for cleaning it... or even plexus
Travis from Car Comestics, not sure what nose bra lines he carries... I remember 4doorj knows him better about his brands.Originally posted by 4doorj

My list of random For Sale (some free) stuff
Mine's on a CF hood and you can tell it's there, but it doesn't look like crap, no dirt around the edges, etc. And I only point out the fact it's carbon because it's black

303 won't clean, but it'll protect. I find it a bit difficult to apply 303 nicely on clear bra though.Originally posted by 4doorj
