There's not enough evident from those pics to call it ugly. Looks just like a regular WRX hatch with a modified bumper, spoiler and fender flares.
I don't see the big deal. As bland as the new WRX's are the last three versions from the bug eye up were flat out ugly vehicles. Subaru has moved from ugly to bland. To me it's a move in the right direction.
