Default Replacing seat belt tensioner to reset airbag light.

So I have a question for everyone... it'll cost me $300 to fix my "airbag" light due to a faulty seat belt tensioner in the driver side.

For $300 I could buy a PEAKE tool off ebay for like what? $150?

and also a seat belt tensioner for maybe $50? and do it myself?

Would anyone recommend doing this project themselves or should let the pro's handle it?

    Steve

Is it the mechanical or pyrotechnic tensioner?

I know the E36's came with one of two tensioners: a spring loaded mechanical tensioner, or a small pyrotechnic tensioner on the newer ones. I wouldn't recommend doing the pyro one yourself.

Edit: How'd he manage to get himself banned?

It was the legal issue, forum that I started... Well I'm back and I've decided to change my mindset.

Umm but thanks for the advice, I'll ask BMW and see.
