Default Now that the dollar is on par.. which makes carry warranty into Canada?

Thinking about heading down to Great Falls, Montana (not Manitoba, oops) to buy a new car which is about a 9 hour drive from Edmonton. I know Subaru does for sure and that Honda won't. Which car companies in particular will warrant an American car in Canada?

Subaru does not transfer a normal warranty anymore. You have to pay out of pocket and then submit to SOA and they will reimburse you.

correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt Manitoba in Canada? What does buying a car in Manitoba have to do with obtaining a warrenty on an American car in Canada?

i don't think any makes do cross border anymore
from waht i know is some make will cover warranty if your car is still register to that country
ex: car from states comes to canada for warranty, some makes will warranty it,but as soon as it registered as a canada car, kiss the warranty good bye

so you end up with a cheaper car,but no warranty, + duties on top of it

    ^^Lol, Manitoba^^

good luck finding any new car along a border state. You'd better have an American friend come with you to buy it new, then you buy it off of him.

Most dealers in the US will not sell new to Canadians, but you can buy used.

Call the manufacturer here in Canada to verify warranty coverage before you buy...

Don't do the border states and you won't have a problem for not selling to Canadians.

I don't see why they won't sell new at the border states. They make the same selling it to an American. Is there some type of agreement between Canadian and American dealers?

It's an agreement between the American dealers and the manufacturers, they have threatened large fines to those that break it.

    Default .

nissan stands behind their warranties as long as the vehicle was registered in the states for 6 months after original purchase. So if you buy a used vehicle at least 6 mos old your good.

i personally has some warranty work on my usdm 350 z last week, no ?'s asked. I verified this with nissan USA before i bought, but i was still expecting hassles (you know stealerships) but Mills Nissan in edmonton treated me right!

From what I hear, you can not buy a new vehicle and bring it back. Has to be minimum 6 months old.

I read this when I researched an ebay (Nissan Murano) purchase from New York.
