isnt that on the same platform as the porsche cayenne? Cause im pretty sure it is...
If I remember correctly, I read an article where they compared this to a bunch of o uther SUV's like M-classes and Navigators, etc. and the Dub beat them all.

It's in diesel right? It looks really nice!!
Depending on the market, it will be available in a wide variety of engines, including diesel torque monsters. It is built on the same platform as the Cayenne, and therefor should be very tight.
I drove a Cayenne S and was very impressed.. it handled, accelerated and braked very well, but the interior quality was way sub par for the class. Hopefully VW improves on this.
Looks nice. Yet another SUV to add to the list of vehicles that will never be driven offroad.
thats not even the point anymore. They arnt even designed with that first in mind because thats not what the market wants.Originally posted by frostyda9

There are 2 engines currently available:
4.2l V8
310hp @ 6,200
302lbs-ft @ 3,000 - 4,000
3.2l VR6
220hp @ 5,400 - 6,400
225lbs-ft @ 3,200
And possibily in the second model year of the Touareg they will put out a V10 TDI and W12.
From VWVortex:
The 313hp V10 TDI is by far our favorite pick of all the models not because of the 313 horsepower but because of the 550 lb-ft. of torque. The V10 TDI model really moves off the line with big authority and literally pushes you back in your seat. It is also the quietest TDI we've ever heard and returns nearly 24 mpg combined cycle according to VW. Every journalist in attendance at the event echoed the same sentiment that the V10 TDI *is* the Touareg model to have. VW engineers tell us that since truck emissions are much looser than gasoline emission standards there is a VERY good chance we'll see the V10 TDI in the second year of production along with a 420hp+ W12-cylinder model.
yikes, thats alot of power from a diesel. I love it!!!
