As someone who has listened to hip hop for 20 years, I can tell you that current mainstream hip hop such as this is mediocre at best, and you have to turn exclusively to underground shit to find decent lyricism, mixing and production quality.
Or you can get Vanessa Carlton's new album Heroes & Thieves!
    It's good stuff!

Lupe is one of my new school favs forsure, I can't wait for more new shit by him. I'm also lovin Aesop Rock's,"none shall pass" album. Deadly album forsure, almost every track is pretty hot. Never was a fan before but Wow. I downloaded it just on a whim and its gettin more play then anything else in my MP3 player these days. Anyone else feelin this album?

Well I admit I was a bit judgemental, I mean to each to his own. Having said that though I find Lupe to be exactly what hip hop needs right now. His production isn't the best out there but he does have unreal flow and great word play to go along with it.

I personally dont listen to alot of rap but if i did it definetly wouldnt be this, i mean the lyrics BLOW the rhymes even worse and the beat sounds like its mixed from a 5 year olds sesamee street album.IMO But hey if you like it thats all that counts really.

So basically this translates to "I don't like rap anyways so no matter what song is in this thread I'd say the same thing"

Lupe Fiasco is sick, and I'm a metalhead haha.

The beat in this song is very weak, sounds like a generic Pharrell beat IMO.

Before you judge Lupe, check out some of his other stuff, which is amazing. Food and Liquor is easily one of my favorite CD's of the last year or two.

"Make it rain for chicks, Pour champaign on a bitch."

Hahahh I laughed so hard how the guy said that.

My fav song from him is "the instrumental".

The songs are actually called "The Cool" and "The Instrumental"

Lupe is ill, another thinking man's rapper.

What's great about the new album is that is going to tell a story. The Cool is the name of the new album because the dude in the Song the cool is going to be the main character. And the dude in the song "The Cool" is actually the little boy from he say she say.

It's such a brilliant concept and it blows my mind when he comes up with shit like this.
