    Default Hawaii, island Oahu

    Staying here

    http://www.aquaresorts.com/aqua-waikiki-wave/index.htm

They just did $5million in reno's and apparently is super nice. Plasma's in all the rooms, very large, all new modern furniture and such.

We leave on Nov.15th to the 23rd.

Any suggestions on things to see, places to go, things to do?

We are on the island of Oahu in Waikiki.

Korean BBQ, it's everywhere and dirt cheap. There should be some big swells so I would check out the North Shore for some surfing action.

Hike Diamond Head mountain, if youre on waikiki looking out at the water and you look left youll see it. The earlier the better, i think its only about half an hour or 45min, but if you can catch sunrise there from the peak its one of the most amazing things youll see there.

They're expensive, but I love the luaus. Mmmm, roast pork.

And for some reason people love that Dole Pineapple factory tour. I think it's the whole all you can eat pineapple that gets to them.

I'd suggest against the cultural center tour, or the Pearl Harbour tours, unless you actually like that stuff. They take up the whole day, including hellish bus rides and 2 hour line waits. If you like that stuff, it's worth it (apparently), but if you don't, it's like you're watching your money and beach time running away from you

Don't know much else, I've been there twice for 2 weeks at a time, but mostly all I've done is sit on the beach and watch the honeys walk by. It's that nice.

Oh, there is this one place, forget the name, it's on the beach by the ABC store. It's really nice, can't miss it

Well so far I have a few ideas.

Since we are going in Nov, apparently its prime time for big waves. So we will drive up to the North Shore to watch some surfing and aww at the massive waves.

Another day we will do the hike up diamond head mountain.

Another day we will do a helicopter ride and submarine ride.

    Another day will be snorkling.

Each evening we hope to hit one famous restaurant per night.

I also would like to Island hop at least one day and hopefully catch a tour to an active volcano.

    Anything else?

Snorkelling at Hanauma Bay is fun, lots of people though, make sure to go to the deep water on the other side of the corral.

Don't waste any time on waikiki beach, its overcrowded, dirty and the water is way too shallow. Our favorite beach is Kai'Lua Park Beach - lesser known, white sand, nice waves, not too big.

Check out the International Market at night time, its fun to barter, and there's some cool little trinkets.

    Duke's restaurant is really nice.

Dole Pinapple Plantation is neat - make sure to get one of the ice cream cones.

I keep hearing they are closing the market down. Anyone know?

But if it's open, +1, that place is fun

Hawaii is pretty affordable now. We booked Hawaii after our Dominican trip was cancelled due to a wedding being called off...LOL...and Hawaii was about $1000.00 less.

Forget that, Westjet has flights to St.Lucia now! I'd rather go to the east Caribbean than Hawaii.

I just booked Nov. 13th to the 23rd. I think our flights were around the $700 mark or so

Staying at the Ohana something something... Our first choice the Outrigger BeachWalk didn't have any rooms available to accomodate the fam but oh well, I don't care, I'M OUTTA HERE for two weeks!!!

To each their own, though I much prefer the Caribbean sea to the pacific ocean myself.

If it rains there, just whip out the t-shirt and shorts, seriously lol.

The air seems to get warmer at night!

you would be surprised how not 3rd world they are

I would agree with you on the all inclusive part as it doesn't give you a chance to experience a destination fully.

It's really nice in the rain there, as long as you prepare for it, ie: not getting good clothes or your money soaked.

Also, even if it looks like crap through your window, it's warmer than your mind thinks it is, it just thinks it'd be cold because clouds in Calgary = cold. I'd wake up when it was raining and I'd have the air conditioner on, so I was cold and it looked like crap because the skies were gray, but I'd get out there and it was a shock, because it is still tropical warm. Funny the tricks your mind plays on you.

Go snorkelling in Hanama Bay, WEAR SUNSCREEN. I didn't because it didn't seem that hot and I got the worst burn of my life. If you go just outside Waikiki (2 mins) restaraunts are WAY cheaper. You also gotta check out North Shore which is a bit of a drive but worth it. Another interesting thing is checking out the Dole Plantation. The Polynesian Culturual centre is kinda cool if you're into that sort of thing. Thats all I can think of right now
