You have to buy a lens too though right?

I think their doing this either to A) try compete with the D300 or B) clear out 5D's because a replacement is coming out

to get the 700$ rebate, you must buy 2 items on that list.

buy 1 item, you get rebate shown in first column, buy 2 items and get rebates shown in 2nd column...

so really, if you buy the 5D and grip you get a free grip and 400$+ back!

You can also get double rebate on any of the items listed by picking up one of the following cameras with it: EOS 1Ds MARK III body, EOS 1D MARK III body, EOS 40D body and kit, EOS REBEL XTi body and kit, EOS REBEL XT body and kit.

Good deal for anyone planning on picking up one of those cameras... and even better for anyone considering the 5D.

Where did you find that list? Cause if you can use the 40D body as one of the things on that list, that would be very awesome. Anywhere that we can see the full list on the net?

Haha right, should have read the fine print. Thank you!

Okay so here's what perhaps might be another dumb question. it says 40D and kit. WTF makes the "and kit" part of it? I get maybe a kit lens, but isnt there a few choices for a kit lens? I dont get it

the kit is probably the 18-55 kit.

most of the other kits come as a box for the camera and a box for the lens.

Does the 40d even sell as a kit with the 18-55?.... I didn't think it did.

I think what they are saying, is that the 40D, and the 40D kit qualify as part of the discounts... from what I can tell if you want to just buy the body you can do so.

I just took advantage of this promo... great incentive IMO. I am mailing in my stuff today.

Does anyone know how long Canon usually takes to send their rebates?

Yes if you do a rebate from the states you have to be a resident of the US... i did it last year had my rebate shipped to my cusion.

As for timing you can pre register your rebate online... I think thats what i did for the US rebate.
