Default BMW 335d Coming To Canada

BMW will be bringing over the 3.0L TT diesel engine after announcing the 335d for canada. Competing against the 335i it has the numbers to back it up, so imo it would be a tough choice on which to choose.
286hp/427tq with all of that at 35mpg

Finally, a decent diesel coming to N.A.

Hopefully the engine can cope with the dirty diesel here.

The only thing is not a lot of places to re-fill... So I guess you'll have to plan out your day properly or when you need to stop.

pretty sure you wont have to plan out your day as diesel gets you pretty far, more like plan out your week

They also have sulphur levels regulated to a max. of 50ppm, ours is set at 15ppm.

Cetane really only affects the engine at lower temperatures (IE during cold starts because the higher cetane fuel reduces ignition delay). Once the engine gets to operating temp the difference between a cetane value of 43 (the average in Canada) to a value of 49 is not that significant.

Engine manufacturers take into account these differences in diesel fuel when they are designing engines. Considering that BMW sells diesel models which run on the piss poor diesel available in India and some eastern european countries, I doubt the engine will have any problems here.

I doubt people buying the Jetta will cross shop the 335. We need more diesels. Honda and Subaru are up next...

^ Just make sure you don't flirt with the 'E' mark and the fuel light too often... in which case 1 out of 5 is pretty crappy.

3 series have a pretty accurate fuel counter. The lowest I have let mine get to is 28 kms to empty. I trust it because when I went to fill up there was about 3L of gas left in the tank
