    Default VW HELP problems starting.

If there are any vw guys on here i would enjoy any help or input. I do have thise question on all other vw forums as well.

    I drive a 2001 Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg

Ok so yesterday i had to run from my house to my parents house about 5 min away. Drove there just fine. Was there for about 10 minutes. I got back in my car, and my car would not start. It made all the usually noices and such before it start, but it just wouldent ignite. So on about the 4th try it finally started. I noticed the EPC light was now on. Also it was ideling at 1100 vs the usual 900. It seem to drive fine other than that. I got home and turned the car off. I tryed to start it again and it started just fine, the EPC light was now off and the idel back to normal... what the hell is going on?

It was slightly raining/snowing out at the time.

and other VW orums might be the best way to figure it out. I know that when I had problems with my German car, I checked Bimmerforums.com and my problem was very common there and i was able to figure it out. Good luck figuring it out man.

Maybe the coil packs are playing up? Thats pretty usual for the 1.8T... Personally, I'd disconnect the battery, have a drink, then reconnect it. Before you do that though, try to get some one to pull that EPC code! Might help out in the search. (time to invest in a vag-com )

my best guess is gonna be the ignition switch. a new one is about $65 at South Centre.

I think it's pretty cool that your car comes with an EPC light. Most cars come with an SES (Service Engine Soon) light, or a CEL (Check Engine Light) light. Either of those will simply make you open the hood and look around with a dumb expression on your face looking for something to smack you in the face for attention. (Save the few of us on here that open the hood and know exactly what to look for, you know who you are)

I am guilty of looking dumb in a Tim Horton's parking lot in the wee hours of the morning.

But an Electronic Parts Catalog light is perfect! All you have to do is plug in the EPC reader to the OBD port (port = left, plugging it into the OBD starboard won't yield results) and voila! It will spit out the part number of the part you need to buy.

Vehicles like this make Parts Consultants like me obsolete.

    (/sarcasm)

I don't have a clue what could be wrong, and I'm bored at work. I don't normally post useless shit, but since everyone else does at one point or another, so will I
