Default how much is it worth?

as im selling my car right now, i am also looking at other things to buy next, after the winter. however, in the trader i noticed a few e36 m3's and i was wondering how much are they really worth??

there is a 97 going for like 14k right now and the 98's are close to 30??

what is a fair price for a e36 m3 in the year range of 97, 98, 99? if i would be looking into one i would go for a 4-door m3
    thanks

definately not 30 unless it has ridiculously low low milage and is mint.

i would say between 16-22 for a 96-99 In Canada with decent milage, depends if you really want a coupe or a sedan.. there will be a bit of a price difference

I'd say $14K and $16K would be undervalue for a late model E36 M3 in good condition. One priced this low would raise red flags for me.

I'd say $22k -$28K is a good spectrum. A car in the $28K range might feature some neat-o aftermarket mods, more than one set of rims and an excellent service history.

E36 M3's are fewer and far between unlike the belly button E46's M3's around town, especially if they're in good condition. I've pulled up beside more than a few middle aged ladies driving an E46 M3 that it tarnishes the image for me.

this is the one i was talking about:
    http://www.canadatrader.com/result/d...4&pgno=1&srt=1

97, $14,500, us car with 96k miles and it is supposedly flawless

i would be looking at a 99 4-door, not too sure if i would go down to the states to pick one up because you never know of the service history and i think the value of the car would decrease for some reason.

what do you guys think about US m3's? normally everything is cheaper there but lets say i found a mint, mint m3 there for around 25k (and we are talking cream of the crop here)...would it be worth just as much as a canadian one or less because it is from the states (even though i dont see why it should if it is a mint car)...seeing this "mint" 97 going for 14,500 kinda scares me off from buying cars in the states, i look at it the same as if you would compare price on a jdm mazda rx7 to a NA one or 300z/fairlady, or mr2's...thaughts?

edit: keep in mind i will be looking into one after the winter, some time in spring so the prices might go down even more by then

Buying a car from the US is not a scary proposition if you research the car. I bought my car in Victoria last year and it was originally a US car. I have all the import documents and inspection records. The guy that imported it did all his homework before buying it, as i did before buying it from him.

Cars are cheaper in the states, period. Your car will not depreciate in value because it is the same car on either side of the boarder. You can find out some of the cars history but running carfax and also if your lucky, you can get the vehicle history report, its what i got that gave me all the information about the car, when its been to the dealership and for what reasons, everything is on there. They start at around 12k in the u.s

i wouldn't buy that one with that many kms

    good luck in your search

If you can get the proper info buy from the U.S. It would be stupid not to.

For roughly 15k, you can get a far better E36M3 if you look hard enough. I found a couple low mileage verts for about the same price as the one above.

You'll want to seriously consider finding one with an excellent maintenance history. While these cars are extremely fun to drive, a late model E36M3 is nearing the decade old mark, and things start to dry up and crack at this age. There is so much better selection down south that you don't have to settle for anything in our limited market.

    amen.
these cars are ridiculous to maintain, I had an E36, it was expensive, some of my friends have them and something is going on them every week.
