    Default to new york

I will be driving to New York City in a week. Google and Mapquest "gets you there" but not always the best way.
Any good route from Calgary to New York... .. .

Wow! That is going to be a long drive. I suggest a GPS.

Not far off from the truth. I just came back from NYC last week, and I couldn't believe the drivers there. It's amazing to watch them weave in and out, around other cars. Just remember that they treat the painted lines as suggestions, not actual lanes.

As for the routing you should take, either way, through the plains is pretty boring. But to get around the great lakes, your best bet is to drive to Sault St. Marie, then cross into the states there. You'll avoid Lake Michigan, and the extra time that would tag onto the trip.

Go south till you pass a road with guys with machine guns on one side and guys with a smile yours, go to the machine gun side, then go east. If you hit water you have gone too far.

Boring but you wont have to drive through america. Constant speeds with little chance of hitting something crazy.. Drive safe.

Yes lol. I can't take off from work or I'm fired pretty quickly..

But a boring drive through the prairies might not suck too much. Blast music and set the cruise.. Get a DVD going or something - not much else to look at..

why would you drive that? you can fly to Toronto really cheaply (400 bucks or less), and sometimes they have relatively cheap connecting flights to NY. It would almost be cheaper than buying gas and putting the enormous amount of km's on your car, and not to say that its a huge amount of your own time in traveling.

Take the drive through the U.S. It's far nicer and it's faster too.

dude... that drive will suck SO much... i cant drive more than 7 hours at a time without getting tired and falling asleep... plus... no patience for it... besides... with airlines like Jazz and Westjet you can probably fly for about the same price as the gas.
