With 350hp they're estimating 1/4 mile times in the very low 13s/high 12s.
I'm guessing around the weight of a Grand Prix GTP.

thats insane, i guess its there answer for the camaro and the competition to the svt cobra?
No offence to anyone, but what a let down. The GTO is supposed to be a machine that instills fear at the drag strip. This thing looks to calm to be a real pony car. The GTO is dead.

I think it looks great. You have to remember, they need to *sell* these cars in order to make some money. Something that looks crazy and instills fear (I'm guessing you want 500+ HP?) won't sell enough to make money.
The GTO is actually aimed to be competition for the BMW M5.
It is NOT replacing the Camaro/Firebird.

To me though, the GTO was not a car made for the masses.

We will wait and see. 12's 1/4 mile? Yet a 5.X 0-60 does not sound right to me at this point, but many different factors involved, proof instead of talk.Originally posted by Gripenfelter

I agree! A GTO that looks like a 16,000 dollar cav? People will see it drive by and say that's a nice cavalier! Is it actually built on a cav chassis?Originally posted by Stealth R/T

Steering wheel is ass looking too.
I agree too! Cars need to sell. The 350z is a good example of a cool car high priced, but sells well, unlike the 3rd gen Rx7 and 90-s supra's, super fast cars, big money, poor sales.....(Good resale).Originally posted by Abom

I agree, but with how the economy works these days, it just isn't possible anymore
I just look at the web site for it. It has better pics than the brochure. It looks ok, nice car but why not dual exhaust in the back.....so un-american v8'ish. I'm disapointed.
Both exhausts merge to the final exit on the right.

Some LS1 Fbodies post 1/4 mile times in the 12.9-13.3 range with 0-60 times in the 5.x range. Reason being, the LS1 pulls better up top.Originally posted by Hollywood

Its based on the Holden coupe chassis, derived from the Commodore. It has absolutely nothing in common with the cavalier. For that matter, it isn't like anything else in GM's lineup at the moment, it doesn't share a platform with any of their other cars. Curb weight should be in the 3500# range. I like it personally, its enough of a sleeper that no one would give it a second look until you left the line in a cloud of tire smoke.Originally posted by Hollywood

Drag racing is for fast cars. Solo 2 is for fast drivers.

Oh well the engine is proven itself at least. The car should be interesting. Est price in CAD?
Its interesting to see that the gauges are the same color as the car. thats neat.
This car sure is a beast though.
Haven't seen anything yet. They go for about $46k Australian, but thats not a terribly reliable indicator, since they have such heavy taxes on cars there.Originally posted by Hollywood

HAHA, this car is such a joke in the styling department. It is recycled so many times!!!
It started as the Opel Omega in the early 90s in Europe. Then they imported to Oz in the mid ninties and called it the commodore... Now they are bringing it to north america!!!
