    Default Rustproofing and Undercoating

I have a 10 year old car that I believe has never been undercoated off the lot, though how do you tell? I'm wondering if it would be okay to take it to a place to undercoat now?

Also, do you guys rustproof and how often? and when is the best time of year to do the rustproofing?

What shops in Calgary do you guys suggest to do this?

Anyplace that does Krown Rustproofing in Calgary? Only place I found is a place called Airways Brake and Muffler.

I know The Car Salon has Rust Check.

And then I have read about a place called The Shine Factory.

    Any suggestions guys?

If anyone can list experience or reasoning as well for their suggestion, that would be great.

Most dealers offer it on new vehicles, maybe try calling a dealer and asking about it and the price. Obviously it will probably not be done BY the dealer, but they will inform you who they take their vehicles to too have this done.

shine factory. at least 4 dealerships in calgary take it there.
And no dont pay a dealership to do it for you. They mark it up about 200%.

Would the oil spray Shine Factory uses be comparable to the Rust Check or Krown product used by other shops?

I'm getting my new car in a few days, and want to take it somewhere to get rustproofed and undercoated as well.
I called around to a few places and from a price and 'sounds like they know what they're talking about' perspective I'm thinking to take it to a place called Calgary Auto Salon... has anyone heard of this place? any comments?

I went to The Car Salon the first year for Rust Check. They drilled some holes and plugged them up with black plugs. Everything looked really clean and professional.

I would go back to them, but they are more expensive. I have gone to Airways Brake and Muffler to get Krown Rustproofing the last 2 years as it is cheaper. They seem to do a really thorough job.

I didn't bother with the Undercoating because of the age of the car.

^It will differ if you have a SUV or minivan, but for a car it came to $128 with tax and all fees.

    Hi guys,

It is worth it for getting a 19,000km vehicle a rust spray protection? I had contact Shine Factory and plan to get the Pletium Rust protection, but since my car is over 9xxx km, the warranty drop down to 5 yrs, instant of 10 yrs.

LineX? I know they spray box liners in but I imagine that stuff would do wonders for protecting the underbody of your car. I'm contemplating having it done on my vehicles.

What's your guys' opinion on a tar/asphalt based undercoat vs. a 3M rubberized type? It seems like the asphalt type is stronger but really dependent on the person applying it!

    $350 for an SUV!
